    Default R10 Oil Filler Cap

G'day, recently discovered that the oil filler cap on my R10 is smashed - my mate Sunroof has told me they are hard to come by, and according to my fruitless internet surfing, I have to agree! Questions:

What other caps will fit, including Renault and other brands?
Does anyone have a nice one they would like to sell/swap?

    Cheers,

I'm curious, what's so special about an R10 oil filler cap?
It's just a Cleon Fronte engine and there were what, 27 million of these motors made over something like 40 years.
Should be as common as dog shit.
Is the R10 a special size or is there something that makes them unique.

No, just that there are a lot that have broken. I am sure there are a few in peoples sheds that are ok. Just finding one thats the problem. Also the metal part is often faded, bent, or dented. It is like the centre for my 10 steering wheel. I probably threw a few away in my time but I don't have one for my 10 now, even though I have three spare wheels, but for some reason no centres.

I can post you an R10 steering wheel centre. I don't have a good spare oil filler though, that I can think of.

If originality is not a problem Tridon make a cap to suit, not sure of the part number though, but a trip to your local auto store will get one sourced.

I have a reasonable original cap you can have. I wonít be going to the RCCQ meeting but perhaps I can leave it out for you to pick up if you come in to Ipswich. Postage might work, but they are somewhat fragile.

Thanks for the replies guys, especially your generous offer Alan - I saw one on eBay that looked like it would fit, it does, Tridon TOC500, looks nice in chrome and I've seen one of the o/s parts shops selling the little plate that fits in the top, that will dress it up a little too

    cheers
