Default Choke cable for Renault Fuego Turbo

    Hi all

Am after a choke cable from an R12 or R16. The one on my Fuego Turbo is ridiculous for a RHD vehicle. It runs from the RHS under the dash emerges out of the firewall on the left and works not by the cable but by the cable casing. So hard to get right so am after a simpler arrangement where the choke cable comes out of the firewall near the brake booster and works the choke directly by the cable not the casing. Some alteration to the mechanism on the Solex carbie may be necessary to get it right. Can anyone assist?

    Hi Barry

From my experience it is hard to find a good R12/16 choke cable, all the ones I have here have a varying degree of stiffness and are not very nice to use. They have a plastic outer and a solid inner.

You maybe better off getting a generic one off Ebay

    Just my worth.

Thanks Col and Chris. I need the one that has the choke warning light as shown on eBay - the one from Greece. I'll do some measurements and see what length would be suitable and let you know. In the meantime, the Solex pressurised carbie has been fully overhauled with a kit from Eurocrats in Reading, UK, and runs beautifully. Now just to get a roadworthy and she will be back on the road.

If you're stuck I'm pretty sure I have a used R12 choke cable somewhere.
You can have it for P&P costs.

    Cheers

Thanks everyone for your kind advice and offers to supply. I managed to use the existing cable by rerouting it through the grommets for the bonnet cable and cutting it to length and, with a few adjustments to the anchor point on the carbie, it now works fine. No more lifting the bonnet to adjust the choke to get started.
