    Default R1135 rocker cover

Has anybody have a spare alloy rocker cover they need to sell? Mine is cracked badly & Bruce McLean from Precision one off Engineering can't weld it.
Otherwise a new one but where from?
    Regards,
    Ross

    Moteur - Racing Car Diffusion

They don't have the originals, but have something suitable down the bottom of the page I believe. I don't think the R5 Alpine replica ones will fit?

What about the black and silver Renault Gordini one bottom right hand corner. It is not an original looking one, but if it fits....

Won't fit either it is from a 16TS. They have 3 holes and the spark plug tubes are at an angle, same as the R5.

Mine is welded and the guy complained about the oil saturation, but he got it clean after a while. It kept on oozing oil as he heated it up. Don't know what he used to clean it with.

Maybe the OP could get a pattern maker to do a pattern, and get some cast - he may make a killing!

Or I suppose these days, it is a 3D rendered file for someone to CNC machine.

    Ross here,
Bruce McLean complained about sand in the casting. Could I ask about who did your welding?

Hi Ross, Sorry I can't help you there because it is just a welder I found on the yellow pages here in Auckland. I think I will find the place again if you are thinking of sending it here. But then the sand might cause other problems I don't know of.

I'm guessing the cover must have been bead/sand blasted at some stage? As the original casting doesn't appear to be poor quality aluminium, just harshly handled.

As KB indicates, I'm guessing it won't be too long until 3D metal printed redesigned covers are created.

As Frans says, they are very difficult to weld as they have quite a bit of porosity and sand inclusion from the casting. And then they need a lot of work to be made to look nice again.
