Looking to source both wiper blades, obviously the rubber can't be replaced as it is glued in. Be grateful for responses.

    Dear Les

I only have the ones I need pretty soon for RWC

I got mine from Melun Rťtro. I think Der Franzose have them too

When I get the dead ones off I shall have a play and see whether they can be unglued/reglued, but suspect not ( or that it won't be pretty !)

    Good luck

    Andrew

Another thought which may be less of a pain than importing from France/Germany. Just remembered this now

I was in Auto Surplus in Mitcham and saw some of the 4CV type wiper blades a month or so ago. They are a crowd who go around buying up stock from old dealerships at auction and have a lot of useful old stuff, mostly NOS

They know their stuff and could probably tell you over the 'phone. A photo of the dead body would probably help them too.

I distinctly remember seeing some in February

    Hi Les,

It depends what wiper arms you actually have on the car. Many have been changed over the years.

I have Trico arms fitted with a splined adaptor to the original shafts, and the blades are standard FJ Holden I think, readily available from Rare Spares around the corner from us.

Some cars have had Dauphine arms fitted, an improvement that take a press on wiper blade fitting. Those and the origin type blade are both available ex-France as Andrew said.

So, it's is quite easy to sort out once you know what to get.

    Cheers

Depending what your starting point is. If they are SEV arms and blades (they will have SEV and their name, Lympid, Cristal, or something.... on the stainless steel spine of the blade) file the splayed end of the pin holding the retaining bracket (the thing that attaches the blade to the wiper arm) to the blade, remove the pin and bracket, slide out the old rubber, then slide in a suitable steel backed replacement (such as the Trico fitted to a VW Beetle, or a choice as suggested above which may also fit, after some possible trimming), then refit the bracket with a new brass pin, then re-attach to the arm, it looks and works as good as the original.

Further advice just provided to me is to check out Flexdrive Agencies in your particular capital city. They've always had what's needed in the past.
