    Default Blue Virage Wagon eBay

Me thinks the seller of the nice blue Virage on eBay that Bowie spotted might be stretching the truth slightly

    R12 Wagon, Virage (Blue) EvilBay

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1978-Ren....c100012.m1985

    The ad reads -
Original paint which still looks and shines up well
Seals gutters pillars guards doors etc free from rust

    Never been bogged

    Hmmm

No he just got his words mixed up.

Where he says free from rust what he meant to say was rust is free.

    The ad reads -
"Original paint which still looks and shines up well"---Car was resprayed in 2006.
"Seals gutters pillars guards doors etc free from rust"--- Must have had extensive rust repairs done recently.
"Never been bogged"---Check the interior surfaces of the rear door skins and the roof area where the now missing luggage rack mounts would have been.

I actually like it. I still have my spare 17TL engine and gearbox waiting in the wings (probably won't use that engine in the 4CV).
I might have to make silly offer for market price

Yes looking at the add it looks like someone patched over the C piller at some point. The rear window hatch still looks to be showing rust however.

I like it too. Wish I saw it when it was $150.

Did we work out how many people it went between since that add in 2016.

No, someone telling lies in a used car advertisement!
What is the world coming to when people lie in advertisements.
    $3700 for a $150 car isn't a bad return on investment.

Say, this isn't the same guy from a few years ago that wanted $12,000 for the yellow 12 sedan (no time wasters).
They may have misplaced the decimal point on this ad too.
No, $12,000 sedan was in Melbourne I think.

I thought it went from you to Thierry. Thierry to the older couple. From them to someone, then it is at least them to now or possibly one other. I thought I have seen it for sale twice since the older couple?

You could be right. One thing for sure; it certainly gets around.
    Was sold new in Warnambool,
Spent some time in Melbourne; was a courtesy car for Auto Paris or similar organisation.
Headed north to Wagga in the mid Noughties.
    Then to Sydney in 2009
    To Central Coast in 2016
To the Hunter Valley in 2017

Was the Wagga guy on here viragewagonman or similar?
If so, I think I bought out all his leftover parts after he sold the wagon. He was an aircraft maintenance guy at either the airport or RAAF base from memory. Was quite active on here at the time.

Yes, that's him. He sold all his Renaults (R12's and R20's) and spares, went into old aircraft, de Havilland Beavers I think.

Paul, what did you do with it!

Oh last time I was there, (Auto Paris) there was a crazy old 17 body kit hanging from the roof. Someone annoy him for it

Oh and someone contact the seller and offer him $195. So I become the highest bidder of course.

To be fair, the current owner probably paid a lot more for it than $150 so probably considers it to be worth more than that.

Not when I acquired it in 2009.

It had a late virage or similar axle with the press on, flimsy steel, grease seal plates. The ones that are easy to damage or distort when removing or fitting....
I sold it with a spare "standard" r12 axle.
It did have R17 anti-roll bars.

Sounds like it is due for a stay in Adelaide Plus there's nothing quite like an interstate road trip in an early Renault you've just bought with no guarantee of making it home

A dream of mine is to get an R12 wagon, the running gear from a Subaru and an F4RT from a Megane, 4WD Renault Sport sleeper.

Go on Bowie, you know you want to.

....and make it into a Getz killer.

12 wagons are perfect the way they came out of the factory.

It would easily pull a tandem trailer with your POS on it, Bowie. I pulled my 17G like that with the wagon. And the 17 is heavier, and the wagon was loaded with parts (was moving house).

Forgot to release the brake on the trailer too for the first 6 km. Wondering why it was sluggish to take off at the lights.

When I sold it, it had a towbar and standard electrical connector fitted. It's ready to go; a perfect matching support vehicle for the mighty R12 racecar...
