Default Self imposed r8 separation trial

hi guys.i know this sounds silly, but to be able to focus on things other than a blue absolutely addictive bloody little sixties car ,i have decided to disable him and cover him up so that i can not be tempted to break the deal that i will not drive it for 30 days.
the problem got worse after i fully rebuilt the front end with the harder mecaparts bushes and adjustable steering arms.new konis and a meticulous front and rear alignment and suspension tune meant that the handling and cornering and tracking is seriously hard to stay away from.
not to mention the get up and go from the FRANS CRONJE inspired and mentored engine.and the beautifully rebuilt r16 big box by Rob Sealy
hopefully this is not getting me ready for when i eventually decide to pass him on to some one else.

Maybe you should have put it in a crate, so it just looked like a nondescript box in the corner, you can still clearly see what is lurking under the car cover.

You KNOW what is under the car cover, and I know what is under the car cover.

But seeing as you will not be driving for a while maybe my phone will stop ringing........... ??????

I wonder if there is commercially available chewing gum or spray solution that will ease withdrawal symptoms.

    Just go cold turkey.

If it all just gets to much you can always rip that cover off and just stand there and admire it, then put the cover back on.

Most likely like trying to give up smoking or drinking but keeping a pack or a carton stashed away for Justin.

    I'm speechless!!!
After all that work you cover it up and look at the cover. When 'BARNIE' is finished I'll drive it until he wears out.
Make sure the cover comes off for the McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic ..........Sunday 22 April 2018.
    Cheers mate

Is the performance of the car so good that it has caused.... "lose of liscence for 30 days"? If so how many points and how much was the fine?

Mine has not been out for more than 30 days. Cobwebs are holding it to the garage floor. Must remedy that!

I feel the pain too. I have 2 old blue Renaults and I try to drive one every day to the shop or out along the motorway for fun. They do tend to take up a lot of leisure time but hey, it keeps me out of the pub.

Its a beautiful car! Drive it, life is too short. Other suggestions: Leave the country; cancel the rego;sell it and get another project.
Covering it up means another running classic out of sight, not driven, little joy in that save for car porn value.

You made me feel bad. Mine has been out twice now in the past week. First a 101 km drive around the area and then yesterday to Mount Panorama to watch the hill climb.

I managed to put a bum imprint in my Fregate seat this morning as I treated myself to an outsourced breakfast.

Nothing wrong with grasshoppers! I found after nearly a year that the rain had not shifted them, so best to shift them manually I guess.... My usual washing procedure is to park the car on the street if rain is forecast.

    Great photos.

Re your 'cold turkey' approach potentz, all I can say is you must have more self-control than I have.

well, the one month exile has expired !!!!!
reconnected the battery,a few pumps of the webers a few turns of the starter and he burst into life once more.a very nice 2 1/2 hr drive was reward for my effort. strangely, the car seems even better than before,so maybe there is merit in less frequent use.

the month sure did drag on though.

    cheers and regards
