As a first, try locally Parts of France (Ken Bailey) on 0400 566 119 (formally Caravelle Motors) Melbourne

Failing this the usual suspects for o/s : Catalogue ALPINE RENAULT, https://www.franzose.de/en/Renault/ etc

Yes Ken is very good local supplier, but does not carry a lot of 'old stuff' mainly consumables ie oil filters, bearings etc

Franzose - have not used them yet.

As for Mecaparts, we are on first name basis!

Melun Retro Passion, Bretagne Auto Retro, Ichard, Neo Retro, Mecaparts..... They are pretty standard products. The early Sierra-engine cars, like my R8, had a smaller top hose diameter and look smaller. Those smaller ones weren't fitted on the R10 AFAIK.

Agree, try Ken first, last and always for older French Cars parts.
In over 30 years of French Car ownership, Ken has always been the go to for me firstly since my R17.

I'm constantly perplexed by anyone who says........"eBay is shit" WTF, ebay is just a sales tool for things and should be the last place you look for any French car part unless you pretty much have a part number or if you are buying a second hand part which you know is right.
    Sorry, just my opinion.

Have a look at mackay online catalogues.

    Catalogues | Mackay Consolidated

You may find the correct hose, or simply a very close equivalent.

Then go to Repco or Supercheap and check stock or order the hose in.

^^ Possibly Rob. Without looking at the catalogue, the R10 top hose is an odd shape and size. The thermostat fits inside the hose on the engine side then onto the top of the water pump housing, and from memory the size varies between that and the radiator size.

I always thought the R8 and 10 were the same, but I think Johnw mentioned the early R8 (R1130) is different again?

I've also grafted two off the shelf hoses together.

If you don't look at the "by inside diameter" catalogue you will never know.

If you don't mind doing a little sheetmetal work there's always the possibility of modifying the radiator carrier to accept R12 radatior, the hoses for which are more readily found.

Yup. Early R8s have a smaller top spigot on the radiator. Not that they overheat.

I don't know whether this problem is still there, but it took me less than 30 seconds to verify that Mecaparts has them in stock. You need '2nd montage' in the top hose.

    These are always available.

    Cheers

And don't forget, you will be looking for a 73-75 degree thermostat, to suit Australia's climate. A lot of the Euro thermostats may the the 84 degree type.
