Default The Great Alpine Road Tour

    All Alpine owners.

This is a heads up of more than three months to prepare your Alpine.
Scheduled for the weekend of 21 - 22 April and centred around Bright
    in north east Victoria.
We will be touring the roads of Mt. Hotham, Falls Creek and Mt. Buffalo.
Intended purely as a social event to be enjoyed with our wonderful
Alpines in their intended element - alpine roads!
This is definitely NOT a competitive event.

Please register your interest initially via text to 0418548311
Your name, location, mobile, email, Alpine model, rego number (if any)
etc. will make a good start.
Of course happy to chat if so desired.
The Alpine database that Heinz so ably manages is just that - not a club.
If you do not want your details passed onto the database or any third party,
please make that very clear at the outset. We will respect your privacy.

In the early nineties the tiny handful of Alpine owners had such a gathering
    and it was great fun.
More details to follow as planning progresses.

    Cheers, Steve Kalenderian.

Can I come too to spectate? Quite handy too with camera to capture those amazing machines with the Victorian Alps in the background.

I'd say given that Australian deliveries are anticipated to start in June, that base has already been covered.

    Hi Simon,

I am certain that if Renault OZ were interested, they could ship an A110
    early for promotional purposes.
    They would be MOST WELCOME!

...and I am sure Barry Mc. wouldn't mind us all test driving his new A110....

    Interstate Alpine owners.
If it makes your dilemma any easier, we can probably accommodate
trailers and tow cars on private property in Melbourne or near Bright.

    Cheers, Steve

Ok; I'll assume that no response means 'not welcome'. I hope that a good time is had by all.

    Peter and s9810588.

No answer means we haven't had a chance to discuss it yet.
Will remain open to ideas, but very early days at this stage.

My apologies for misconstruing the silence.

There is certainly a case for not expanding things to Gordinis, Renault Sport beasties & stray oddities like the Djet &, instead, keeping things tightly focused on Alpines.

    cheers! Peter

    Hi Peter,
Totally understand and empathise with your situation.
However, as you have said, we need to keep fairly focused on Alpines.
I have been seeking and getting very diverse opinions from other
Alpine owners regarding "beasties" from the Dieppe Alpine factory.
What do we do with mid engined R5 Turbo, Clio V6 and Spider?
Personally, I regard them as Alpines as they share DNA and a fair
    bit of componentry. OUI perhaps?
Mais NON for front drive R5 Alpine, 5GT Turbo, RS Clios and Meganes
..and regretfully, non for you Djet.

    Cheers, Steve.

    Hi Alpinists,

    FYI
The Great Alpine Road is a tourist road of 308 KM running from
Wangaratta to Bairnsdale via Bright and Mount Hotham.
The event will probably include the "three peaks" namely Mount
Hotham, Mount Buffalo and Falls Creek.
There will be long and alternative shorter runs to suit most preferences.
This is NOT a competitive speed event and speed limits should
    be observed.
We surveyed most of the roads last weekend and they are in
good order, some resurfaced. There will be no dirt roads.
(unless repairs are in progress at the time )
There is no entry fee as such.
Your only expenses will be accommodation, fuel and self inflicted food
    and beverage costs.
We have found suitable modest cost accommodation and will inform
    entrants in due course.
So far, we have approximately 17 expressions of interest, with A110,
A310 4cyl and V6, GTA, Le Mans, A610 from QLD, NSW, ACT, Vic and
    SA.
West Aus and Tassie entries would be most welcome. We will help if
    possible.
If you know anyone with an Alpine, please let them know about the event
in case our network hasn't reached them.

    Cheers, Steve.

So many great roads in that area....Omeo Hwy / Bogong High Plains rd - I did the Omeo to Bruthen section a few years back when it was first resealed - magic ! Now that the road through to Falls Creek is sealed it's a wonderful 'lap'.

Everyone from the west needs to be assured that these are all fantastic drivers roads and well worth the trip.

What a fantastic time everyone involved will have.

    Cheers

Yes with the above. There are not to many surfaces in that part of Victoria that are crud. My sneeky favourite is from Beechworth to Rutherglen. There is a lovely decent before you are welomed to those long straight empty country road

    Hi Dave

The hotel we are staying at at Harrretville has advised it has room for trailer parking but thanks anyway for the offer. no grandkids will be getting in my A110 if it is on the move - car sickness and all that.

One of my customers/friends owns the holiday units in Harrietville right opposite the pub. She would probably offer mates rates to fellow Renault nuts.
