Just out of interest. What does an R10 radiator curtain look like. I don't think I've ever seen one.

...it looks like a radiator panel, a rear panel or the big black thing the radiator bolts too.

Ah got it. I was thinking it was a radiator blocking curtain or something, like the earlier cars have?

I was wondering too. I think there was an external flappy device as an aftermarket part that slipped over the rear grill to vary the amount of air getting in there to the radiator, but I've never seen one.

How much would the steering rack weigh? Just to get an idea of postage cost.

That fluoride steering rack can be used for an R10?

Just a minor correction. It is Floride. Fluoride is the reason, all being well, that you or younger relatives don't have a mouthful of fillings....

They do interchange I'm told, but an R8/10 rack in a 4CV reduces the turning circle so they aren't exactly the same. I'm not sure how the Floride/Caravelle change fits with that - Floride being Dauphine and Caravelle being R8 in the front end.

I'm still in awe of the cleanliness of those items Graham.....

How confident are you that maybe perhaps that clutch might possibly suit a 12?

Say on a scale of 1-3.

Mr B, the diameter should be right but there will be a question mark over the splines. As I haven't actually fitted this to a car I can't be 100% sure. I'm hoping someone smarter than me will know. If that's at all possible.

Edit: I'll trial fit it to a couple of different R10 splines and report back.

    Bowie,

It fits a standard R10 17mm/20 spline input shaft. Therefore it will fit on an R12 motor with an R10 gearbox. That much is for sure.

An early Renault 12 (excepting 12G of course) has a 170mm diameter clutch, the later 12XL/1.4/Virage came with a 180mm diameter clutch.

I've also got one of these little suckers to suit a Dauphine. Just a warning, the chrome bit won't fit a Floride very well, there's a difference in them. Dauphine only

    $40 free postage.

That could be confusing because faced with an overproduction of these models, Renault sold some surplus bodies to Colgate who recycled them as toothpaste tubes.

But then Colgate, realising that the Renault bodies were reasonably expensive and were much in demand for their production of vehicles went back to using surplus PSA bodies that were available in their thousands and very cheaply. So to this day, your gleaming teeth have a PSA connection....

Just a minor meta-correction: strictly, as you mention the word 'Floride' rather than using it, you should have said:"It is 'Floride'.".

    cheers! Peter
