    Hi Brian
When I repainted my R10 in the Primrose Yellow some years ago, I changed the 2 front seats with 2nd hand golf GTI front seats ,which was recovered with a stripy grey material. The seats were mounted permanent to the floor in the correct position that suits me, works very well.
I will try and get a photo on for you to see

I chose Sparco Sprint seats and they fitted fine in the R8 with plenty of clearance inside. They are also ADR compliant.
Needed some to make up some special brackets from Alum and spacers and runs with sliders.

Just a word of advice. If you install racing seats of the type r8dream mentioned, make sure they are on runners or you may not fit between the seat and the steering wheel getting in and out. On my classic rally r10, I had a secondary runner mounted to the original frame and runner so I could easily slide the seat back and forwards easily on the top runner to get in and out and left the original runner in the one spot.

    Hi Brian,
I have fitted my R10 with Mercedes Sprinter van seats, an easy fit and they slide easy and are adjustable for height. They also include detachable head rests.

I fitted R17 seats to my R8 many years ago and they worked well. However that was back when they could be picked up in good condition at a wreckers.

How have you found those Sparco seats Brian.

I've been tossing up between them and a Velo GP90 seat.

    Brian,
I fitted the after market Ricaro in the R10. The Ricaro sliders were mounted to cross bars bolted to the original base frames. They were a bit low at the rear so I put spacer tubes (12mm) for the rear bolts, and they are very comfortable. much lowere than R10 seats. Very comfortable to drive long distance.

These were the R10 Seats in mine, using the standard frame and runner to mount to the floor.

I had race seats in my R8 for about a week. Fine for a race car but horrible in a daily driver IMHO.

I changed back to the original seats (vinyl sprayed black) and have never regretted it. So comfortable and reasonably supportive.

Me too. I have them in my 4CVG (my R8 has R17 seats which are also good owing to the adjustment of the shoulder "petals" & the individually sprung thigh support). Contra Ross, I don't find them a hassle in a "daily driver" vehicle (I rotate through the four toys). A merit of either seat is that they are narrow enough to fit the vehicles (unlike some options). And yes, some runner fiddling about is mandated but nothing major.

    cheers! Peter

Please everyone keep it original, I'm disgusted by all these strayings from originality.

    Icon14 Bargain seats

Received a text from a workmate a couple of weeks ago .it said : my mate is chucking a pair of mint nissan z seats in the skip.if you want them you have to pick them up straight away .

So i shot down in my trusty transit ,had a look and brought them home.i am wrapped with them.they fit perfectly in proportion. Easy fit and so far, very comfy.

The driver seat has adjustable side bolster support, adjustable lumbar support and the bum section tilts up and down as well.when the sides are adjusted in, it is very huggy or adjust them out for a more relaxed feel .

As shown i have attached to existing seat rail which makes refitting the originals a breeze. No extra holes were drilled in the floor or the existing seat rail.the original seat are absolute mint black R10 units and will be kept to go with the car to its next owner. (Well i certainly hope there is a next owner)

ALSO I REALLY LIKE THE PRICE !!!!!!! $0.000

    Cheers Brian

That's all a great range of options! I have the originals, which I guess no-one will be surprised about. They are now with cloth inserts where the old vinyl split and I had the bases repadded a couple of years ago (dismal quality originals, only lasting about 40-45 years before sagging....).

My issue, solved by all those photos, is lack of head/neck protection in the standard items. Back when they were easily available, some people fitted R12 'tombstone' seats.

I'm very tempted by some of the photos...

    Cheers
