    Default Mystery Renault Gearbox

Anyone have any ideas what type of box this is?

It is a 5 speed box.

It's apparently a late Renault 20, but I thought they ran a Fuego style box.

This has the twin crownwheel reliefs like a UNI.

There is no ID plate on the box.

If it is a R20 5 speed, what would the ratio's be?

If it is out of a 20TS, the Observers book of Renault gearboxes says it will be a 369.

    1st 37/11 – 3.36
    2nd 35/17 – 2.06
    3rd 29/21 – 1.38
    4th 37/35 – 1.06
    5th 32/39 – 0.82
    AR 23/11 – 2.09

Hi mistareno, definitely late r25 note hydraulic slave cylinder mount bolt holes (horizontal holes at top of b/housining near clutch fork).
more interesting is gearbox sitting next to it which has minimal casting webbing and steel plug on side of box,any ideas as to what that one is out of? jim

R20 also had hydraulic clutch - with dodgy plastic hose... well, not so much the hose, the connections had a tendency to pop out...

Local brake place fixed mine by replacing the hose and fittings with 'normal' style screw in rubber hose, cheap as chips fix....

Mine was a 5 speed also, but I can't recall the number. It came from a late model R20 (replacement for knackered auto) and was built like a brick dunny inside.

    cheers,
    Bob
