    Default R 20 timing belt

I,m still learning the ropes on my R20.Being of dubious provenance I,ve decided to fit a new timing belt.
A seller has one which he says is for a late model and it has 116 rounded teeth. Please can anyone advise.

With the 20TS, the early cars had a square tooth timing belt, and the later cars had the round section timing belt. So it will pay to check which belt your car has, as both types were sold in Australia. Also, it will pay to change the water pump at the same time whilst everything is apart, as well as all the A/C, accessory belts etc.

Brian, if the belt is old stock it may not be wise to use it. If you do wish to, at least check that if you bend it in the reverse direction the rubber doesn't show cracks and check the rubber has not hardened or the teeth may strip.
