    Default R8/R10 Hood Lining

Does anyone know if its possible to transfer the hoodlining from one car to another? I have a mint interior in an R10 that I'd like to put into my new project and the hoodlining would be the icing on the cake!

Yep, I reckon they should interchange. I'd also recommend you lay the donor hood lining out in the sun before refitting, this will make it a little more supple and stretchable. There is the possibility that you will need to redrill the holes for the bows if there is a subtle difference between new and donor body shells.

It's possible if you are super careful but with the age, it is super brittle particularly on the c pillars and around the windscreens where it is glued on. With all the best intentions I'd say you are likely to rip and tear it removing it. The main part is not glued and retained by the metal hoops which do unlock and release relatively easily. It is also a dusty, tedious job so be prepared.

I agree with renault8&10 on R10 trim. Unless the car has been stored in a dark room with a controlled climate, my experience with vital parts of 10 lining is that it is dry, tissue thin and explodes into a tear when handled only slightly roughly, a bit like my skin as I get older. Good luck, it is possible but very high risk.

The French (large diamond) fabric can be quite fragile with age, and is very prone to tearing as indicated above. However the Australian (small diamond) fabric used on the later 10s is not as fragile. They will swap over between models, just make sure things like the grabhandles and coat hook holes line up before gluing the sides in place.

Once tried to remove and keep a 404 hood lining for later use, but unfortunately it was unsuccessful. Just too brittle. If the hood linings are glued to the frame around the windows and doors, I would suggest using a hair dryer (not a heat gun, too hot) to soften the glue prior to pulling at it. It makes it easier to remove and reduces the chances of tearing. The vinyl does distort a lot though, especially were its been glued.

I used a new one as well. The new ones use the same or very similar patterned material. Mine came via J Y Lardinois in Belgium.

ENPI may be the source, so it could be worth shopping around. Although if doing a bulk order through Meca or J-Y, there may be minimal savings when it comes to bulk buy and postage.

    Default Headling

If the headlining is not torn, have you thought of having it painted. Could be a goer, or just go to an upholsterer and have it replaced. I had a new headlining in my 4CV installed locally. Just a thought

I transferred a r10 one not long ago it came up okay, but I'm sure a new one would be better.
