    Default My new 8G

So excited. I pick up my new project tomorrow morning. Genuine ex works R8 Gordini. I wish it looked like this now but then again I couldn't afford it if it still looked like this. But in a few years time it will.

Nice one Dave, out of interest, where do your newly acquired Fregates fit into your grand plan?
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

I'm not sure, the 8G jumped the queue but this is a once in a lifetime car. The Fregates will have to wait for the new shed.

Wow.... Well done Dave. We look forward to the full story in time! A rare one!

The Griffith group is gathering gradually. We have two R8s from WA, neither a Gordini. I've concluded that the non-Gordinis are now the rare ones!!

    Cheers

You maybe right JohnW 1132's might be rarer than 1134s or 35s but this one is the rarest of them all. The were only 4 works cars built and this is the only survivor so that makes it pretty rare plus its the last 8g to come off the Heidelberg assembly line. It's also the 1971 Vic championship winning car so yes I think its pretty rare.

    Good on you Dave,
But don't take my example of taking a "few" years....
Think the bonnet and engine lid moulds I have were taken off your car.

Long day but we got it. Big thanks to John Sanders and Rach Sarah Cavanagh. Here's the 8g coming out of hibernation and is room mate, a 1132 r8 with R12 motor. The former owner wanted a blue R1135 and 40 years ago it was just an old rally car so he started stripping it to paint it blue. These days it's history is important so my job is to strip it again to paint it Daffodil yellow. Lucky for all of us he was a real horder and kept all the rally gear so its really just a matter of painting and assemble.
