    Default R8 sale

Yes, I know that there is a "for sale" forum & I shall duplicate things there but time is short & people are more likely to see this stuff in this forum.

A recently restored R8 1100 has come up for sale in Launceston. I know of the restoration & it is very competently done. Reason for sale is "project finished & new project calls". The only possible ground for criticism that I can think of is that if one likes shiny two pack paint (I don't) then it hasn't got that. What it is is hand painted by him with a few layers of "White-Knight" anti rust paint. Looks fine to me but YMMV.

It's up for auction on Wednesday March 1st in Launceston (auction begins 9.15) by Armitage Auctions. (First & final notice was in today's local paper, "The Examiner".)

    The URL for them is:

    Armitage Auctions - index

Oddly, I can't see it on their list but it is pictured at 113/114/115 at:

    Phone number is:

The car is listed as an Renault Major (an appellation in Europe for the 1100) & has 'Major' badges.

The seller has chosen this mode of sale & it's no use ringing me, emailing me or PMing me as I shall reject such contact. I am not the seller or his agent & merely draw the auction's existence to the attention of fellow froggers. I do not know if there is a reserve or what the "indicative range" for the auction is.

    Enjoy! Peter

Looks straight, fairly to very, and a real R8 1100. It's an early one with the convex bumpers.

Funny about the R8 Major badges, but you can buy them.

A rare car and perhaps a good buy if there isn't hidden rust.

It'll be interesting to see what it fetches and who buys it.

    Interestingly diverse auction too!

Thanks for giving it some publicity Peter.

    Cheers

It was built up from an R8 shell which had been stored in etch primer for some years so lots of its bits have been acquired & added on. The shell is sound as far as I know.

    cheers! Peter

I'll talk to the owner at some point in the next couple of weeks & find out what happens next.
