    Default Some nice photo's of a 750 - VIC Reg GLA872

Just found these B/W photo's in a pieces catalogue I have. Maybe of interest to someone or the 4CV register. Car certainly looked nicely kept.

Nice photos. It shows one of several variants on the air filter designs used - a dry filter followed by an oil bath, just before they ran the air line to the front of the car. Fairly new 1954 model by the look of it.

    Thanks for posting.

    Now for the corrections....

I'm just wondering if it is just an exceptionally well maintained car? The fencing looks like permapine, in a style that dates back to the 1970's at the earliest.

That's what I was thinking, and the photo's of the photo's aren't doing it justice, it really looks great. Maybe some who knows Vic number plate sequences can advise - GLA?

It does look like an exceptional car, however the head is not painted, and it looks like the thimble on the coil lead is not Pieces d'origine Renault - more just pointers to the pics being much later as a well maintained car. The tube from the aircleaner to the coil also looks like duct taped ends with later clips, but that is being really picky as I doubt at the time the pics were taken, things would have been as easy to obtain as now. It scores with the battery cover alone!

I'll have to look back through our old albums, but I think that may actually be my dad's car.

If so the photo was taken in Melton (at what is now hannah watts park) around 1966ish

I am reasonably sure, but the only thing that sticks out as being out of place is the mirrors bolted to the front wings, but it's been a while...

My Mother later rolled it after dropping a wheel into the gravel on Keilor Melton Road...

Our 1955 Rover 75 was GKA, so this would put the 4CV mid 50's

Import/build/registration dates create considerable errors, especially when remembering without documents.
