Yes, I had it restored by a mob in qld specialising in classic replicas. They did a good job too!
Can't recall their website, but they're a talented bunch. They can even make a brand new wheel from scratch if you want.

    Nice.

Your new wiper/washer switch is much like mine, except mine is blank without symbols and I mounted it just above the rocker switch. My rocker switch powers the light I fitted to illuminate the boot (which is at the top corner of the boot lid FYI and works really well.

Mine doesn't work through the ignition switch, which allows me to wipe and wash, or illuminate the boot, without the ignition on.

What I'd really like is a new dashboard top. Mine is deep brown and with one crack through the centre screw, otherwise perfect. I should chase one in France I guess.

I run my reversing light and the radio master switch from the surplus rocker switch under the steering column (reversing light OR radio, that is).

I also fitted a marine starter button (with rubber cap, that is) on the floor by the speedo cable, wired appropriately, and one stab gives a single wipe of the washers. Can't remember how I did it of course.

Is your red car an R1130 by the way. I'm wondering how many are left?

    Cheers

I have the original boot light but powered off the parkers. The wipers work without ign. I contemplated whether either the infer wheel switch or redundant wiper switch could be used to switch power source for the flasher can but I don't think either would be suitable?

Oh, and the red car is an 1132 but the age is a bit indeterminate as it's a bitsa with the later c pillar.

Thanks - I suspect both switches could handle a few amps. Mine didn't have a boot light (R1130).

Had a bit of a play today and think I have it sorted. Using an on-off-on rocker switch, I have managed to power the flasher can from either 12v ign or 12v constant (fused) by selecting either side of the rocker switch.

This means I can leave it in 12v ign most of the time and the indicators only work on ignition as normal (as would the hazards). If I need hazards without the ignition on, I can flick the rocker across to select the alternate power source. At the moment it is just tucked under the dash but I have ordered a 2 speed switch from mecaparts that appears to be a direct replacement for the now redundant 1 speed wiper switch on the dash.

Ever since the pressed fit fuel line came off on the way to the Junee 4CV Muster, Mr Graham has been reminding me there is no fire extinguisher in the car!

Flushed with the success of picking up a $15 1kg dry powder one with metal bracket, I set about tinkering such that I could install it without drilling holes. This required a bit of "outside the box" thinking so I sought inspiration in the scrap steel bucket.

There I found some flat steel bar that neatly fits inside the R8 seat front runner (singular on an R8). One on top of the other also fills the gap pretty nicely, so I set about making a mount utilising some scrap bar. A couple of pieces to sit inside the runner and a raised "W" shape that the extinguisher bracket bolts to. Drill and tap for M5x0.8 with a couple of scrap torx screws; black spray paint and job done.

I didn't know that, or don't remember. You wouldn't be the first... Or the last regrettably. All is bonded or threaded now I imagine.
