    Default R8 Door latch spring

    Hi again

i just want to know how necessary is the tension spring that is used on R8/10 door latches?

each latch I have pulled off either has the spring missing or broken.

there seemed to be no issue operating the doors, so wonder how necessary the spring is?

    cheers

The spring is in place to limit the button rattling in the stainless handle, depending on the various tolerances and assembly method. This was the reason for the plastic "washer" in the later cast door handles. The earlier type stainless handles don't use a plastic "washer".

Thanks Simon, that makes sense. So I take it that the SS handles were the early R8 and cast were the later (improved) version.
so if I leave it off, the worst that can happen is an annoying rattle.
    cheers
