Fascinating! So how does this work, you just leave the steering in 'únlock' and start towing?

Would this be legal in OZ?

I used this method [A Bar] to tow my 90A Simca 365 miles to race at Caversham.
Steering left free. Friend sat in the Simca to give the impression that someone was in control!
Very hard to convince him that he could sleep on the journey.
Simple wiring system to relay tail and stop lights etc to towed car.

I don't know if it was legal back then, 1962. Great days!

Legal side I don't know but this is how I have been towing my race car around to our tracks since 2009. It should be seen as a 4 wheel trailer, and very stable as well.

I have used an "A" frame for towing in ZA for years, key in the steering lock disconnect the battery and a trailer board on the back of the towed car and off you go.

1000km trips were nothing and easy. Towed an R4 project car from Pretoria to Port Elizabeth (1200km) with my R4 registration and license disc on it, not even stopped by cops.

I believe it is still legal in the West, as we see plenty motor homes with Suzuki Siera's and small cars behind them.
