    Default Renault R12 on Ebay

Here is what looks like about a 1975 R12 at a reasonable starting price for anyone looking to get back into an R12 or thinking about getting one.

That's right up your alley, Bowie. Needs lots of work, runs, white, what else can you wish for?

One owner! That really is something.

Looks pretty straight on the outside apart from the hit in the front.
It says little rust but the cancer could be lurking in the PIA locations (plenum, sills, windscreen surrounds, boot, etc. all the usual places)

Oh it is very tempting! :S And it looks like a late early one! I like that.

My partner would kill me if I bought another home, I have to pass, someone snatch it up. I'll buy bits of it from you later.

Yeah, 'one owner' - that is, right now... There were another five owners previously.

Bowie, those reversing lights were the wagon ones turned vertically.

I'd love to grab another 12 but the driveway is full of cars that have to be moved all the time. Damn pain.

I thought the wagon reverse lights were incorporated into the number plate light housings. They are black plastic iirc. Or was that a Virage addition?

The ones on that car are standard for a R12 of that vintage. My 74 has identical ones, as does my parts car.

Edit: Must be a Virage thing as the early 12 wagon has the same reverse lights screwed into the tailgate. I think the R12G had a single early R12 wagon number plate light mounted under the plate.

    Some one buy this.

There are nearly enough of us here with 12's nearly working. We could form a gang, a collective, a posse'. We could enter 1300cc events and dominate with 1 2 and 3 positions being filled with RENAULT!

Actually better yet. Between the 3 of us, we'd only need one that works, we could borrow bits from each other for each event

The Clio engine in a 12 thing has been done already.

Dunno what engine that is, looks like a baby GT-R to me, but I see some Clio mentions in the comments. I am pretty sure you can find all the details somewhere on the www.

Yes, The reversing lights were horizontal below the tail lights for a while then then from around 1973 they moved them to vertical beside the tail lights.
Then the Virage of course had the reversing lights as part of the tail light cluster.

As I was brushing my teeth I suggested to my partner.

"you know that Renault I had out the fro.."
    "SLAP!"

    She is right after all.

Also, re this car with a broken dash, I have a good dash you could put in it. Just sayin'

Funny comment. I once had a customer with a CX who traded it on a new Xantia. He said the beauty of the CX was he got to see much wonderful countryside while waiting for the RACV. The new car is boring he misses all that.
