    Do you mean this:-

    "Minis to celebrate 50th anniversary

A special all-Mini race will be held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Morris Cooper S’s win in the 1966 Gallaher 500 at Bathurst. That was when Bob Holden and Rauno Aaltonen led home no fewer than seven other Minis in the annual production car classic.
The anniversary race will draw from Group N Historic Touring Car ranks, meaning a busy weekend for ‘flying brick’ teams. Meantime, off the track, owners of Australian-built examples of the famous Cooper S are invited to display their cars in Pit Straight Car Club Corral."

I think there is a Renault specific muster in September.

I can probably email you a 4cv register email about it but it runs from 15th to 19th Sept and they are basing it at the gold panner motor inn - on the eastern side of Bathurst heading towards Kelso. Reduced rates if you mention the register.

More details going out around June. It's the 70th anniversary of the 4cv and 60th for the dauphine. Can you finish the frankendauph in time?

Email, yes please either address will do.

I figure my Fregate will blend in with the Dauphines.

Frankendauphenstein will have to wait a few years.

Damn, it clashes with the Toowoomba Carnival of the flowers, decisions, decisions.

Carnival of flowers runs for over a week or more. Do they still do the parade down Ruthven Street?
You can do the park and home garden tours during the week.

You can do the flowers next year and the year after and ......., but this Bathurst event is for the 70th anniversary of the 4CV. Not to be repeated next year.....

I'll be there, all booked but by Qantas not R8, and hoping to see you and Genevieve. I'm off to the big 70th for the 4CV (and 60th for the Dauphine) at Montlhery in France next month - very exciting, with a 4CV PIE to drive all being well.

You must join the 4CV Register and keep up with these things.

    Cheers

Hi Graham, you are a member of the 4CV Register and a proposed program was sent out to members on 3 Feb and Accomm Info on 16 Feb, also info in last March Fourword which you should also have received. The info was also sent from Renault Car Club of Qld which you may be a member of. If you did not receive this we may have an incorrect email address for you Email me directly and I will send the info to you. Frank

I don't know how much has changed, tho Ruthven street is where we once did our Saturday morning cruises (trying to look cool). ( which I think I succeeded at)

Couldn't give a rats about flowers personally but it looks like I'm going anyway.

    Thanks Frank and John,

I have been receiving your emails but have lost most of my emails recently but I did get a copy of Fourword as well, just didn't notice it.

But thanks all, I shall put in for a leave pass for Bathurst.

I've forwarded both your register emails to Graham already Frank, but that shouldn't stop you sorting out email addresses for future Comms.

If you do go to the carnival, make sure you go to that pretty railway station - the name escapes me for the moment but it is just below the top of the range from memory (helidon spa maybe?). The QLD locals may know if you're not familiar. The one I'm thinking of wins awards for their platform floral displays.

Spring Bluff it's called, and you can catch a train there from Toowoomba. That's a manly thing to do!

According to their website, they don't believe in dog.

My dearest person would probably think that floral display marvellous. It's nice, but all I can see is endless man-hours in the heat making it happen.

What railways lines weren't open over Easter?
As far as I know, although it is now a bit of a spur line, it was originally part of the main railway between Ipswich and Toowoomba.

If that is what I think it is, you can get there in a 4CV in first gear. Lovely spot.

It is on the main Brisbane line out west. You are at the right spot John. When the Renault Muster Down Under went there we were blocked on the station side by one of those massively long coal trains. In fact two, as it is a change over place for the up down trains.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, think, crowds, no parking, hot, miserable, lot of walking. And then a request, no a demand. "to make a garden just like that"!

Instead of rebuilding my R17 motor this week I am putting 4 more taps out in the garden with more than a 50 metres of pipe to be dug in. Loving it, NOT.

    Sunroof,
Their website mentioned it was decommissioned as an operating station?
Sounds like it may only be a special occasion thing now?

True, not an operating station it just has a double track at that location to allow up and down trains to pass. There are a lot of coal trains on the line. The line itself to Brisbane and from there to Toowoomba up the range is single track. It is a steep range hence expensive to duplicate the track. These days the signals and points would probably be controlled from Brisbane. During the Carnival of Flowers there used to be passenger trains stop at the station but they were specials so people could view the gardens. There are two houses but not sure if the families are rail staff any more. Possibly not.

Does the car have previous SA registration history? If so, what is the body like? it looks like all it needs are headlights, blinkers, wipers and quick polish with some Re-Po Extra Cut.
