Hmmm, so I have looked again and make the following observations for those who care..

The car looks more or less complete except for the rear bumper, rear windscreen and centre dashboard glove compartment grill. The left hand interior door handle is broken but I have spares if anyone from here makes the purchase.

The car is still in 6 volt configuration, has original carby, radiator etc. and probably the original engine.

I note the lack of front indicators, the reason for which I can't explain.

There is rust in the sills and there would be hidden rust as well, but by no means a basket case, in fact it would be a definite candidate for a full resto and bear in mind this may well be the last time a car like this comes up for sale.

The steering wheel is original as are the seats, hubcaps and wheels.

Being the commercial model, the Domaine would have had aluminium body trim as an option, this car does not have them but I have a spare set of those too.

    So who's it gonna be...?

Would be great to see it restored with the same sign writing again . With that towbar, it would be cool to see it towing an A110 or something like that on a car trailer. An image of the Estafette service vehicle towing the R8G comes to mind

The towbar would probably be a keeper as it would be difficult to find a replacement original bumper. Note the Domaine didn't have rear bumper over riders because the tailgate doesn't allow for such.

So I would keep the towbar as is..

    If I were interested....

    (which I am not)

This would be a nicer towbar/bumper option if a usable bumper could be found..

    That's a bit rude isn't it? $4000?

That cars must be part of the Doc Robbins collection. The late John "Doc" Robbins of Bendigo had a large collection including 4 Fregates, a Juvaquatre, Dauph G, R16's, 4cv's and various Pugs. And an original Domain wagon Renault service vehicle identical to this one. Everything was sold off cheap to clear the estate, very cheap, I'm talking a few hundred each car.

What's the chances of 2 Domain service vehicles being in Bendigo? Not much I don't think. The photos are not at Docs house so it's either Docs car at a new location that was bought for bugger all or there's 2 in Bendigo.

It's missing dents in the lower tailgate from the incorrectly fitted over riders

Dave, the $4K would be an appropriate value given the vehicles rarity, but it's just a matter of finding the right connection who want's it bad enough. Same as selling any old Reno..

Yes true but it's an old Renault not a VW.
By the looks of it he's cleaned it up and got it running and yeah sure that's worth something and if the price was half that I'd look at it more seriously but at 4k I'm out.

I can see a Fregate front grill, a Fregate front seat, a Fregate engine (maybe not original color). Pretty sure the rear windscreen is missing in that shot too.

I thought something looked odd about that RHS over rider, I think it's off a Dauphine..

There's also something going on with that rear wheel too, it's too far forward, probably just missing the packing block.

Imagine stumbling across that collection and being able to have a look through it . The heart would start racing as you discover all the different models amongst it all. That would be right up there with finding a quad headlight R8 front peeping through an old rickety barn with canvas over it while on a country drive
    cheers,

    John

Unfortunately I've known Doc for about 30 years, I sold him the Fregates in 1985 so I know there's no hidden treasures but I still go to sleep and dream about barn finds.
