A Renault 15 on the roads heading toward bunninyong this morning. I don't think I've EVER seen on of them on the roads. And I was only flashing all the cars due to the $afety Camera hidden at the bottom of a slight hill around the next corner.

Amazing right? There is still a renault 15 left on the roads.

this is victoria, private contractors.. The easiest way to pick them is them is finding a car parked in a weird place at a bottom of a hill. then check to see if there is "somthing" bolted to it's dash .... If so start flashing your headlights like buggery.

So if your dong 103km/h ... so creeped up 3km/h down the hill they have "got you" (try that in the ID19, 1.6mph is 1/2 speedo needle width margin for error ).... Didn't you know, speed kills I find the ID19 quite frustrating. To get it's headlights to flahs you have to spin the stalk on/off ... on/off. I reckon one week I put 20years of wear on the poor heaghlight switch. If you think I have little respect for "$afety Camera$".... You are completely wrong. I don't have little respect for them, I have absolutely NONE.

Ahh Shane you and I both know that speed cameras are for Road Safety, why even the commissioner of Police says so. So it must be right.

Be careful flashing north of the Murray. You'll get pinched, because the $afety camera doesn't want people to slow down.

There not police ... they can't do anything. Flash everyone including the camera car... Give them the finger too if it makes you feel better If the police see your headlight flashing ...yeah that's right, I was saying hello to my mate, bob and Johnno..... Think I saw frank back there too

The way I understand the law is that all headlights flash on hi beam and it's illegal to use hi beam at on coming traffic so if you get pinched all you can be charged with is using hi beam in traffic. So rewire your lights to flash low beam and your ok.

God, I wired mine so the spotties come on too. Better think about that again.

Thats easily fixed just use a switch to turn the spotties off, I have all my cars wired this way so that I can use high beam without the spotties coming on.

Also remember it is a requirement by law that when you dip your lights that all auxiliary lighting will be extinguished.

Don't flash high (or spots) in NSW unless you can see who's watching. It's very important that as many as possible speed past the radar.

Even more important is to go a little bit over the limit in downhill road tunnels, so the hidden cameras in the roof can get you. They obtain donations of millions a year. The Lane Cove tunnel is an underground down hill motorway.

Icon12 It all started with ....

In Victoria, some magistrates might understand the longstanding camaraderie formed between Renault owners where owners acknowledged another Renault owners by a flash of recognition of that wonderful tradition, that came about because our cars had this facility built into the design of the flasher, we flashed proudly because we could and most of the other common run of the mill, couldn't!. A "reliable source" told me that soon all European car owners got into the flashing each other routine as it was akin the great Australian tradition of waving to acknowledge your mates on the road, a sign of enduring friendship.

Your legal counsel might also relate some of the older stories where knights on horseback would raise their empty weapon hand to show friendly weapon less intent and the oncoming rider would do the same, thus even strangers could allay each others fears, and so the tradition goes on today etc. etc. Nothing has really changed other than the pressures of life, speed cameras, and the internet

What a wonderful history of friendly acknowledgement, that extends to this very day

Pre-dating Renaults flashing lights was MG and Austin Healy drivers lifting their index finger to each other (no not giving the bird) in recognition of their great taste in motor cars.

I sold my R10 for an Austin Healy Sprite. I think the 10 was quicker, more comfortable and stopped better! Thinking about it well driven the 10 out-handled the Sprite.

    G'day,
these cars have been around for a while, so why haven't the local bikie people had a 'go' at them. I would have thought that they might have at least tried to destroy or maim them.

A cocoon of sweaty bikies would certainly be an incentive to relocate.
No need to retrieve the sign either in Qld now.

If you had a Renault 12 or similar you could flash on low beam just by leaving the parking lights on.
Without having to go to the trouble of rewiring the headlights.

I think that's the lowest job you could do. Lower than politics or car salesman.

To sit there on your fat arse all day taking photos of your friends and neighbours, or parents or your kids who accidentally stray over the limit and you have to stand there and lie to them and say it's all about saving lives.

You'd have to be a low life desperate to do a job like that, it's just legalized theft.
