I could be wrong (and there's plenty of people who will tell me) but modern common rail diesels don't use glow plugs.
They have gone the way of the carburettor.

I have a glow plug light on the Koleos, but it only stays on for a second or so when the temperature outside is pretty cold, around 4 degrees or so. If it's not a glow plug light I don't know what it is.

Ok, here's a good link explaining modern diesels.

Apparently glow plugs can now do your tax return too!

Hi Dave,I think all the diesels have glow plugs to heat up the diesel in the morning regardless how warm is the weather outside, and the little light should appear on the dash board even for a second.Hmm,I ll have to take it to electrician.May be expensive, but it s worthy I think..

Take it to one of our Froggy Car Sponsors to find out if anything is wrong. We all love electricians but Froggy electrics can be confusing to the average Joe.

The Latitude diesel has a small indicator light called the "preheater indicator" that very rarely comes on just before it starts. Some times it just flashes momentarily. According to the manual the engine will start when the lamp goes out.
