Default Renault R8 in Geelong Revival

    Hi fellow Froggers.

My Bucket list includes entering the R8 into the " Geelong Revival " 1/4 mile Sprints 28 - 29th Nov 2015.

Its not about the fastest time it the thrill of entering and getting the car looking like a winner.

    Cheers

    Phil

Now that's wot you call Renault eye candy, well done Phil..
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

It looks a winner already. A real credit to you.
Good luck, I hope it (and you) perform well on the day.

Very nice Phil. I see you have the early-type bumpers AND the early type ornaments on the rear pillars. Is it an R1132, out of interest?

I know our car had the pillar ornaments added by the first owner, it being an R1130 without them.

    Cheers

    A little perhaps, but they aren't. Here's ours (covered in ice in the Flinders Ranges) - a 1964 R1130 and I guess Phil's is a 1965 R1132. Same bumpers.

Default Renault R8 in Geelong Revival

Your little 8 looks fantastic Phil, ya big hoon!

It's quite an experience doing the quarter mile. The car in front of you disappears down the track leaving you with an empty drag strip in front of you. There's just you and the guy next to you revving his engine in anticipation with a crowd of people watching. Gets the ticker going with blood/oil pumping through your veins. You're going to have a ball! The turbo Skyline next to you won't have a chance.
    cheers,

    John

In the modern era they only run one car at a time but I am sure the thrill would be the same . Will be down both days, are you doing Sat or Sun?

    Hi John.

Yes it is a 1132, just checked the oval plate. I had an original 1963 R8 956cc back in 1967 it had the flat bumpers as well.

    Cheers

Guys. Thank you all for your supportive comments. Yes I'm pumped. The car is going like a rocket at the moment and the converted Gordini muffler sounds full race!! If you cant do it, sound like you can Ha Ha

I might get the slowest time of the day but I can assure you there wont be anyone there that has so much fun preparing the car and ultimately racing toward that finish line.

I wrote a small article for our local car Club magazine and thought I would share it with you. See Attached Attachment 77395

Again, thanks for the good wishes, I'll get back on after the event and give you a report.

    All the best

    Phil

Maybe we should plan for an en masse entry of Renaults one year?
Like we did with B2B a few years back

Hmmm, sage advice there eh Kev..?
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.
