    Default Dauphine Gordini Distributor

    Hi,

My SEV Dauphine Gordini distributor needs an overhaul. Can any one tell me where I can find the centrifugal and vacuum advance curves for this distributor on the internet or within Aussiefrogs? Failing that, can any one send me a copy of the relevant curves?

    Thanks in advance

Web Pieces Retro looks as if it has a fully reconditioned SEV with vacuum advance for sale. It won't be inexpensive but it will assuredly be good. He has a proper distributor test bench for them.

Looks like some serious work going on your car.

    Hi,

Maybe it was driving from Melbourne to Forbes and back over Easter, the additional stress has meant that items are just starting to break down. After displaying with others from the RCCV outside at Motorclassica and attending the Melbourne French Car day, it is time for some therapeutic maintenance, both for the car and for me!

The number on the distributor under SEV is No. 98410. However, there is another number stamped on the body:WW 102. I hope one of these is the relevant number.

    Thanks

    David

The WW refers to the centrifugal curve, and also the dizzy would likely have been made in March 1962. The only number missing is the vacuum curve reference, which is stamped on the vacuum unit, usually adjacent to where it attached onto the dizzy body.

    I second that...

JW if you can come up with the award title I'd be happy to spring for the trophy plus engraving.

I'm wondering if the original advance curve will be particularly appropriate for ULP anyway.

    Hi,

Thanks Simon. I concur with the others, you definitely deserve an award. The vacuum advance unit has RO stamped on it.

With regard to the present day ULP as opposed to what was used in the 60s I agree. However, I thought that the original curves would be a good starting point for rebuilding and perhaps modifying the distributor to account for the present day fuel.

    Regards

    David

No awards needed, 'coz I've not done anything. Those who do deserve awards are those such as Greenblood and '59 Floride who actually create stuff from nothing. Unobtanium stickers, parts etc, and then go on to create complete cars from all the unobtanium stuff they have actually created themselves.

Plus there will be plenty of others on AF's who I'll likely never cross paths with who have also done amazing things, but you never find out about them.......

    Hi,

You are too modest Simon. Thanks for both of the distributor curves. We in Aussiefrogs don't realise what a font of Renault Knowledge you are.

    Thanks again

All I do is look up the books in the library, knowledge doesn't come into it.
