Default R8 wheel nut washer failure - check yours!

I've never seen this before. Today I pulled a rear wheel off, and one nut was noticeably looser than the others. I had tightened them myself, properly, when last the wheel was off the car.

What I found was a failed wheel washer, as illustrated. I had replaced the old ones a few years ago as the nuts were spreading at their bases. So this is a new one ex-France!

    Worth a check I'd suggest.

    Cheers

Metal fatigue are all those years, maybe cause by an over zealous tyre fitter with a rattle gun from days gone by.

I have seen that on R16 wheel nuts but they did get a hard life.

New nut, only tightened by me! Definitely not overtightened. Amazing.

Maybe a flaw in the manufacturing.

But a good idea to check, better to the sure than be sorry.

Repro Simon. And I reckon a tiny bit lighter than the originals.
