Yep I'm going. We even have two alpines running in the sprint.

Colin Stark cleaned up as fastest historic in his A110 1800, enough said!
That new engine really gets up an barks.

Was a nice Amilcar present running a S/C Riley (I think) engine with the world's 2nd biggest SU.
    Sounded great

I picked up the 1600 Prod Sports (to 69-75) in my Anglo-French Lotus Renault.
A few frogs parked around the display area including Bob Watson's Dauphine Gordini.

Nice day out although my car probably weighs an extra 5kg in dust layers now.

    Hi Stephen,
I saw your Lotus there and was wondering if it was a Renault powered vehicle. Congrats on the class win. What time did you do for the 1/4 mile cos I think that would be the class my 17 is in and I'll probably run next year.

Hi Roger, I kept an eye out for you but couldn't see you in the Sahara dust storm. Might catch you up at Tarrangower.
    Cheers...Paul

Hi Paul, I was reasonably busy with breathtesting from 0930-1200 & as Diana was not well we decided to head home early.

Thanks for that. There used to be a S/C Amilcar in South Australia - be interesting to know if the one you saw was really a Riley engine, not that it is out of the question by any means. Great little sports cars.

    Cheers

I think the official time is 15.2, my VBox says 14.7 and that 1/2 second variation to the official time was repeatable each run.
The official timing system has an inbuilt delay as it uses radio to trigger the timer from the finish line, that delay is maybe 0.5-1sec. The VBox results are widely reported as within 0.1sec of real time.

That makes Colin's official 14.5 a flat 14 seconds, pretty impressive......

Pretty sure it was Riley powered, a very neat Monoposto, I'll check the program for who was driving and if it clarifies the engine.
