    I love the driving footage.

    I've only been to sandown and rob roy. That looks great with some scary high speed renault corners.

    The fastest i had my R12 was 142kph before hard braking at sandown. Likewise a little skittish under heavy breaking.

    To be cornering at 140 kph in an R12 takes very big balls.

    140 Kph corners in this this were easy.

    Ian that turn 1 is ok. The surface is pretty smooth (now) and it keeps a constant radius more or less. I.e when you line it up correctly there isn't a great deal of steering angle, nor bumps to upset it. Having said that I'm fighting back laughs like an idiot each time it goes around it. It is a little uncanny If I stop and think about the pile of thin panels that protect me. Nor do I want to remind myself that the floor was welded up a few months ago..

    Ah it's all fun isn't it

    More info required from that 12 above please. It looks... purposeful

    I couldn't resists any longer and fitted that 26mm rear bar on the thing. Pro tip for future Bowie's, loosen one of the control arms and drop it out of the housing so you are not there with a crow bar fighting the stiffness of bar like an idiot.

    Once that was sorted you will have to take a bit of material out of the bolt holes on either side, as now the thicker bar won't expose enough space to fit the bolt into. The standard clasps just work. I might investigate some better L brackets eventually.

    Anyway, ! Hilarious! The thing sit's flat around all the round-a-bouts I could find. Will be interesting to have it on the figure 8 circuit and see how silly it is. I expect copious more amounts of wheel spin from the front now. (17ts bar on the front 21mm)

    Under acceleration and deceleration it's not pulling or floating as much as it used too (used to pull pretty hard to the right under acceleration and float back to the left under deceleration. I suppose that makes sense if it's acting like another torsion bar tethering everything together? Still need to look at that, you lot earlier warned me it sounds like an engine / gearbox mount.

    I imagine I'll put the 16mm (R17 Rear) back on after I test it properly. The stiffness right to left really shows how soft it is front to back now.

    I must get out to that suspension place and ask the question at least re springs.

    Anyway. Highly recommended for the local round-a-bout grand prix.

    Not a facebook person so I don't know what the purpose is but it looks like it's built to accomodate a big block Chevy or it's the base for a new Russian tank.

    Photo of King springs for the rear of my 12G replica next to an R17G spring. Might have some more data in the shed.

    Stuey;
    As in bounce bounce snap? I'm imagining deviations forcing both wheels up (as apposed to suspension doing it's work) and then landing causing a slide? I'll be careful.

    Sunroof;
    Yes if there is something written down it will assist as a starting point. I've got a local contact here whom will at least entertain the idea, but if I can suggest a starting point it will assist the conversation.

    What I meant is that essentially stiffer anti roll bars reduce grip at that end and can also cause it to be less gradual at the limit, especially when significantly mismatched to the other end.

    My R12 wagon ended up with Nissan Pathfinder rear springs which were quite stiff but not ridiculously so, but probably not low enough for your purposes. The stock springs were hopeless for carrying stuff.

    Thanks for the tip re Pathfinder springs, that will be handy to give them a reference / for I to investigate further.

    I've got a good collection of stuff now to muck around with re sway bar stiffness at the rear now.

    12mm (Original)
    16mm (17)
    24mm (12 Gordini)

    I'll be able to see how they all feel once the Koni's and springs are sorted.

    But since I'm still poor, more sorting stuff I have in prep, namely the inlet manifold.

    I think I'm nearly happy with the shape / depth of the bowl now. It's actually quite a bit annoying to make consistent and even. I've tried to push back the wall from the bowl back towards the edges in each direction to increase the volume. It probably can become steeper still, but I kind of like the lazy V I have going here.

    Now a bit more blending / opening up off the runners and I can put this part down. I was nearly going to remove the welsh plugs and reclaim all that real estate from the water jacket, but I confess I'm getting board of it. Most gains will come from spending careful time on the cylinder head. I'll return there, and back to this party only then when done.

    That Argantinian track is how tracks used to be in OZ. I raced, marshaled, and spectated at Winton in the 1960's and that is exactly what it was like. Spectators could watch the racing from there cars. Wish it was still like that. I doubt there was any one paid money, it was all volunteers and amatuers. Even the top drivers would have only been supported by there own businesses or perhaps some support from a boss but mostly in kind not cash money. Cheap to run the events and cheapish to compete, well compared to today.

    It does sound magical. It seems the burden of costs currently sits with insurance companies.

    If only one had access to an old retired road / air strip where there wasn't a large cost in creating a road for use. You know like teenagers whom were sick of paying $10 for a vodka and coke in the cities, and would put on "Bush Doofs" so they could carry on in a regulator free environment.

    Perhaps that is what Motorsport needs.

    "A Renault Motorsport Bush Doof" I'd go to that.

    In other news, I went and saw my suspension man today, turns out the relationship was very much imagined on my end They are not interested until I present him a spring out of the car. I started to explain the numbers / dimensions I had collated and he interrupted with a,
    "Yeeeeeeah I'm going to need one out of the car, you can tell me how stuff you want it, and we'll go from there"

    Don't suppose anyone has a front and rear spring laying around I could borrow

    Sunroof, did you get fronts made at K-mac too? Perhaps they have the details in their computer still.

    Glad you asked. One should all visit one whilst spending some time on Earth. Not dissimilar to Woodstock I suspect. A version of a more polished one below.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovZgtwHsuEw

    General Info;
    https://theculturetrip.com/pacific/a...dance-parties/

    But in short, they started as Dance parties in paddocks and fields away from police presence where one could distribute and consume love drugs, dance, have relations with everyone.

    So the equal in motorsport? well probably what we see in that Argentinian video above / the reminiscing expressed from circuits back in the good ol days.

    Yep my fronts were also made a Kings years ago. But at the time I asked about records then as some one had previously had springs done for a 12 and they couldn't find the info. Sorry still haven't looked whether I have the rear spring info I know I don't for the fronts.

    I went through this with my R8 a few years back. Kings have always claimed they don’t keep records and have a comprehensive form they ask you to fill in with all the various spring dimensions etc.

    One of the better known places in Sydney (whose name escapes me) actually had a guy who had all the hand written notes. Apparently they waited til he was on LSL leave then turfed the lot while he was away. I spoke to him a few years after this and he was still quite bitter. His records went back to the late 60’s apparently.
