    Default New Renault 5?

I'm currently overseas and picked up the July 8 issue of UK magazine Auto Express. They have a 'coming soon' section which is basically a half a page list of future models. Included in it under supermini's are:
Renault Twingo GT - late 2015
Renault ZOE update - late 2015
    Renault 5 - Late 2015

Can anyone shed any light on the Renault 5 at all? I did wonder whether it was possibly a 3dr Twingo at all, but Google isn't shedding any light at all.

It doesn't look like a spiritual successor to the original R5 to me, especially from the rear. They need to have stacked rear lights for that.

We probably wont get it in Australia anyway. Renault seem's to have a no RHD policy for a lot of their more desirable models at the moment, which is only going to hurt them in the long run with markets like ours. I can't see how they're going to survive or increase their sales with just Clio, Megane, Captur, Koleos and a few LCV's (Kangoo.Trafic and Master).

Australia seems to be missing out on a lot of great stuff from Renault - Twingo, Talisman, Espace and Kadjar.

Some of the models you mention are undoubtedly in Renault Australia's catalogue. Considering the vehicle mentioned in the article does not yet exist, I think you are perhaps a little ahead of the concept! ;-)

In our small market, this R5 successor would cannibalise Clio sales, as would the Kadjar when it comes to the Captur, so no biggy really.

I'm interested to know if the new Koleos replacement is a 7 seater (or has the option) because the Kadjar looks bigger than the current Koleos but the new Koleos is bigger still. I hope it's not priced in the stratosphere.

I reckon a 5 seat Kadjar for 35K and a 7 seat Koleos for 40K would still make sense and not cannibalise each other or the Captur.

Captur is for the singles/couples with no kids.
Kadjar for the couples with 2 kids.
Koleos for bigger/extended families that need the seats.

    gezza,
I had a Mk1 and a Mk2 and both were great cars. And when in Europe I used to borrow a Twingo quite a bit. And it was not a patch on my 2 R5s. Like the first Clios were good cars, but now they are only for the top of the small car market. I personally believe Renault have lost the plot. And have forgotten where they came from, with Dauphine/R8/R10 and then R4/R5/R6. And Renault Australia are only in it to work the top of the market, they are not interested on spreading the brand.

And I think Present Renault designs are grotesque. They used to be creative, now they are out in Left Field. Opel and Alfa produce a far better looking car.

I emailed the magazine and they responded. The 5 is going to UK, and when it was first listed in that section was due late 2015, now probably late 2016. A shame they're using such an iconic name for the renderings of the car shown. The 5 badge would be far better suited to the Twingo.

Everything I've read about the two models says much like you say. They will have a similar relationship to Nissan's Qashqui/Xtrail. Kadjar will be the 'tall hatchback' 5 seater, slightly smaller. Koleos (replacement) will be slightly larger, generally have more powerful engines, seven seat options, and be a little dearer.

I can see the market for Renault is quite small here, but given how SUV mad we are, I'm sure there'd be demand for both Kadjar and Koleos above Captur.
