Your all going to hate me for this one. The followng is my old rally car from the 1980's. last one is how it ended up when I up graded to a Mazda RX2. It was a good shell, Now I wish I never did that!

It even had its own colour coded trailer. (For when it broke down)

Once it was on the trailer this was the only way in or out! I doubt I could do this now.

A sad end to a car I had so much fun in.
I gave most of the body panels away, however nobody wanted the shell. It would never happen today.

I threw a good shell away in about 1977 myself. Just couldn't keep it. I know how you feel with the wisdom of hindsight. It was a red R1130 what's more, so a sister car to mine. They were worth nothing and most of us didn't have anywhere to put them then either. Alas....

Good to see more photos here!!

Here is a blast from the past. My dad rebuilt this R8 for resale in '88. He recently purchased a wreck car for spares for his current build (the yellow one) and it was the same car he'd rebuilt ~30 years earlier!
Note the very early dash on the car.

Lovely thanks. I've only ever seen one of those earliest R8 R1130s. Those photos look a bit African??

I like the wheel arch treatment.
What's under the engine lid? Don't just say: "An engine"

Henry, I'll have to ask my dad when I speak to him again. He's not yet on AF as he's a little technologically challenged
I suspect it is predominantly standard with a few Alconi bits that he had in his spares chest.
I'm trying to convince him to fit a R5 A/G motor that he has lying around. He's nervous of the water pump conversion.

It's got an R12 head of some description so I guess it would be 1289 or 1397 although it doesn't have the alternator mounted off the head. Does the 12 block have the mounts for the generator or alt down under the exhaust?

Yes, the generator/alternator can be fitted in the R8 position on an R12 block. There is the casting on the block for the long pivot bolt to go through.
