Default Renault traffic /suzuki grand vitara diesel

Both use an renault f9q 1.9 diesel engine .,seems the suzi wreckers are asking more ,than the renault guys ,was contemplating buying a van with engine issues ,my son bought a suzi diesel ,i opened the bonnet and thought ,something looks familiar here ,engine runs north south ,so oil filter is impossible to get to ,there may be a few differences such as the sump which is high at the front to accommodate the diff and has an add on bit hangs down at the back were the pump pick up lives ,pugs. Ps. I baled ,to many unknown factors and the numbers just made the whole thing unrealistic .

Renault alliance with Nissan make the Koleos (in the same assembly plant) and soon the Megane

Peugeot alliance with Mitsubishi make Peugeot 4007, Citroen, C Crosser and Mitsu Outlander on same production line in Kaluga Russia as well as the Pug 308 and Cit C4

Everyone is "in bed" with everyone else and the aim is drive down manufacturing costs.

I knew about those Rob, just didn't know about the Suzuki connection.
I read the other day that the future Renault pickup which is based on the soon to be released Nissan Navara will also be sold as a Mercedes.
    Cheers Renomad

I didn't know about Suzuki either. This link may explain it.
NISSAN | Nissan and Suzuki reach Agreement with Suzuki on Mini Commercial Vehicles OEM Supply in Japan

The Benz commercial is via the Nissan/ Daimer-Benz ties. I'd expect to see Chrysler vehicles getting into the act soon.

I've also discovered that VW and Suzuki have connections as well.

Where will it end? Brands will be brands with no country affliation and the platforms and mechanicals will be from be from global sources?

In fact it's like that now.

It'll be great, Robmac. Soon, worldwide, like the in USA not so long ago, there may be only two players left. Just like Coles and Woollies. And we all love those.....

The interpretation of the efficacy of the situation is entirely yours.

    I was simply stating fact.

PS I didn't know Coles ord Woollies sold or manufactured cars, bit OtT especially on a French Forum.

Coles or woollies may not be doing cars but they are into just about everything else!
Why not Ikea make it KIT FORM you pick the platform the bits in flat pack, put it together and then put the BADGE of your choice on it. HaHaHahha

VW and Suzuki have since severed their ties. Not too amicably either. Both parties were supposed to be sharing their technology. VW to get access to cheaper platforms/cars (to sit below the up!) and Suzuki to get access to VWs engines. Suzuki tried to sue VW fire breach of agreement after they wouldn't share.

Guess who VW are now in talks with to partner up with to develop a Dacia competitor? Great Wall of China.

Ha Ha Ha Why bother doing the assembly yourself?

Lets someone else do it for you, ie buy a Koleos or Xtrail alternatively Peugeot 2007 or Outlander. Each pair are made in the same factory on the same production line.

"Based on the jointly-developed Nissan/Renault Common Module Family (CMF) platform architecture, the third generation model (2013>) incorporates styling cues from the Juke, Murano, and Patrol. Japanese production of the 3rd gen X-Trail originates from the Nissan Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd. factory. Production also began in Saint Petersburg, Russia."

Suzuki Grand Vitara has had the renault 1.9 for a fair while now, same engine as used to be in the megane and the xtrail (unless I'm wrong which I often am). I think there are only so many manufactures of diesel automobile engines.

On the topic of joint developments and alliances I saw a couple of Mercedes Citans in England last year:

Made my Kangoo look like a poor cousin.....

That Citan does look a whole lot better than the current Kangoo.
The original Kangoo was the best looking with it's cute happy face.
