Things you find in Melbourne wrecking yards.

It's been there 10 years and the owner says it's not for sale because it's worth more in advertising.

That's an odd one :-) The oval plate says 1955, the dash says 1956 Thriftmaster, and it looks a Thiftmaster body. Clever period Aussie assembly updating, or clever owner inspired updating? Also a very nice early R4 LH rear lens, do they command the same price as the chrome surround R8 lenses?

Either way it looks a decent project, but there almost seems to be a glut of project 750s out there!

    um, advertising???

(Simon almost has things right. As the most casual of glances at the engine bay shot will indicate, it's the rare "Araignee" sports version with four horses & thirty seven spiders motivating it along. No wonder he won't sell it!)

    cheers! Peter

    I thought I saw a space-time continuum wormhole?

Even black spiders appreciate an early Renault

I wonder if it was driven there? There was a Dauphine with unusual chrome moulding treatment down the sides that was driven, complete and straight into that old massive wrecking yard at Port Pirie (that's probably long gone). When I saw it about 15 years ago when they were still worth nothing, the old guy wanted $3k for it . At that stage, it was already well on its way to becoming at one with mother Earth
    cheers,

    John

    Yes advertising Peter.

What's it worth? 2k maybe? But the number of people who know his yard because of it is worth more than 2k a year. Lots of non Renault people come in just to check it out.

It use to be an old car yard trick to have something cute and shinny in the front row of a used car yard. Cars of choice were 750, Dauphine or Fiat 500 or 600. There'd be FOR SALE signs all over it and when a victim asked about the price it wall always way to high and when they said "I can't afford that" the return line was "Oh come with me I have something cheaper down the back."

It looks like the ECU is configured to upload data direct to the web.
