Default Bryan Byrt Dealership, Brisbane: off the air??

I tried to ring Bryan Byrt Automotive at Mt Gravatt, Brisbane this morning and found that none of their phone numbers are being answered. Does anyone know what is going on? Have they gone on early Christmas break or something?
Actually, an auto industry 'insider' told me that they have gone to the wall. To get to the truth I tried ringing them and found that they seem to be off the air.
If there is any truth in the story I have been told, it means that our only half decent Renault dealer in Brisbane is no more. That would be unthinkable. Anyone??
PS: could be they have lost their phone lines after the recent storm?

I'm sure there is thread on AF which was posted in last week or so about this.

Anyway it's faster to find an external link.

Due to unforseen circumstances we will no longer be trading as Bryan Byrt Renault.

    We are now trading as

    CRICKS HIGHWAY RENAULT

    3469 PACIFIC HIGHWAY

    SPRINGWOOD (Just up from Ikea)

Contact me on [email protected] or 0418 507 662.

The RCCQ has been keeping us informed, but here for your info.

Hard to say sitting on a PC in Melbourne Victoria.

But there are certainly credible indications of closure from the interweb.

Perhaps we need to ask Adam and Jamie to discover if it's fact or myth.

If they have gone to the wall we should try and find out where Andrew the service manager ends up/By far the most helpful and competent Renault guy I have dealt with, sadly missed by all in Geelong where he worked for Gorrell's before heading north.

Thanks everyone for enlightening me - don't get the CM - and did not see it on this forum. Actually heard it from the Nissan guy while shopping for my new Cashkai or X-Trail this morning. Think I'll settle for the X-Trail - now what to do with my Koleos - to a charity perhaps - would they take it? I heartily agree with your sentiment "pclio" regarding Andrew Lotherington - at least we now know where Cory Clark (good man) has ended up. Must visit him soon to wish him well. I expect there will be the usual liquidation auction soon, similar to the last one, and many bargains will be offered once again, probably rows of unsold Koleos' amongst others. I could be tempted - not!

Had a sit in the new X.
Made specifically for the US market IMO.
Even has the crappy foot e-brake that is ABHORRENT.

Even bigger than the Koleos with only 2.5L petrol and smaller diesel.

    No thanks.

This thread was about Bryan Byrt going bust and now we are talking about the merits of handbrakes.
Strange how these threads always take on a life of their own.
Anyway, I notice that Cory is now with Cricks Renault at Springwood.
That is interesting because Cricks already have the Renault franchise on the Sunshine Coast.
A natural progression for them then and one I am sure they are delighted with. Makes sense.

Thank you FIVEDOOR for your sensible and informative contribution to my initial enquiry. I find this whole business extremely sad and distressing. It shows how rag-tag the car industry has become. In my view there are just too many makes and models being offered in our small market, and in the fierce spirit of competition, dealers and manufacturers are just giving away too much value in extras and bonuses and free services and 0% financing etc to have any profit left. The result is obvious. Opel were sensible by pulling the pin as soon as they realised what a losing proposition the Australian auto market is. As far as Renault is concerned, it is a pity that the recently established stand-alone beautiful RENAULT dealership building at Mt Gravatt is now already obsolete. What a waste.

I'd be pretty sure Customers who purchased Opel product from the dealer network don't share your sentiments.

I wonder if Ford would consider giving away that lovely young lady in their latest adds.
Might have to buy a Ford though.
