Default Alpine Monte Carlo Rally ad

I stumbled across this ad in an old Road & Track magazine at work today. Sorry it's just photographed from my phone but the ad is very cool!

    I love the punchline;

If you're looking for a winner, come in and check out a Renault. If you're not, there are a lot of other cars to chose from.......
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

I call your Past glorY and raise you one Pikes Peak

Perhaps, but funny how Renault doesn't get a mention post 1973 in either the drivers championships or the manufacturer championships, Peugeot on the other hand gets 5 Manufacturer titles and 4 drivers championship, both of which pale into insignificance with the mighty effort of Citroen in the last decade. It's ok to live in the past

I think the efforts of the Alpine factory went from rallying to winning the 24 heures du mans.

Then when that was achieved in 1978 the efforts where then put into the first turbo F1 car.

Fabulous. Any chance of a high resolution photo with a good camera?

Do you want one of those great window stickers from that win by the way? I've had a batch made up. I'll be in Adelaide in mid-November and could bring a few over. $5 per sticker to cover my costs.

    Hi John

You should get a set of stickers made up for 1973 as well. and also stickers for International Championship For Manufacturers 1971 and of course the inaugural WRC in 1973

Fair call Arto but no need to give those Citroen folk a big head

Hi John, I don't have any camera other than my iPhone unfortunately. Perhaps I could scan the page for you and email it to you? Not sure how successful that would be from an old magazine ...

I'd love one of your stickers! Count me in thanks. Would be great to meet you in November too. Hopefully it all falls into place at the time
    cheers,

    John

I'll see what I can do to stay a day extra. I think I have to be in Marree on 14th then back to town. I'll bring some stickers. More details nearer the time...

    Hi Ken.

Yes, Bob Gray should have some there to sell. Alas, we can't come as I have a technical conference in Chile at precisely the wrong time. Bugger!!!

    Cheers
