Icon7 RENAULT 12 at PICKLES CANBERRA SALVAGE AUCTION TOMORROW

Sorry for the late notice but I only noticed this today. The Auction is tomorrow Thursday 11 Sept. details on the Pickles site. Very good suite pics, the vehicle would be good for parts if nothing else ....sad to see such an apparently sound vehicle in this situation. It would be interesting to look at the extent of the damage.

Most of the damage appears to be above the door sill and does not appear to have impacted the roof or the B pillar. A new door might be required and not much else?
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

The car itself looks like it is in good order apart from the obvious....I might go and have a look.

Dont get to excited guys that's stuffed. Sill and bottom of the A pillar are pushed in. A fare way by the look of the way the parcel shelf is folded up. You probably could make this a $12,000 car but you'd spend about 20

I agree with Dave, there is more damage than first appears.

The person who took the shots needs a lesson in photography, they do not show the damage properly.

Agreed, but I suspect they lack motivation to be helpful.

The photos are almost always less than helpful, but they do cover
themselves with the following in text. Not much help to the buyer.

Damage Details - Entire Vehicle - Impact Damaged Vehicle. Please Note: We recommend an onsite inspection during viewing hours.

OK guys I went and had a look...I wouldn't say that the Pickles description was accurate. The car was basically straight enough other than the impact zone, the crumpled parcel tray and a slight fold in the roof. Having said that, David is right, the damage is serious enough to proclaim it stuffed. It's not like it has been banana'd but you can see how the sill is quite bent in. The front guard is crushed near the door but the bonnet and the front panels still fit fine, no sign of deformation in the engine bay and the bonnet opens and shuts like it should, no gaps opened up in the panel fit on the front. I was a bit puzzled by the parcel tray damage and initially thought it may have been the result of the passenger making a rapid exit.

Over all this car was in very good condition for its age, such a pity to see busted up it like that. It certainly would have been a great source of good quality bits and pieces for a 12 owner. The books say it originated in Goulburn and yes Kevin I did think about grabbing it but that work was way beyond me and having it sitting in the yard would lead to domestic issues....there is enough junk there already...plus a long line of when I get round to it projects.

I dont have any idea what it went for but there was no one else remotely interested in it while I was there.RENAULT 12 at PICKLES CANBERRA SALVAGE AUCTION TOMORROW-img_20140911_114502.jpgRENAULT 12 at PICKLES CANBERRA SALVAGE AUCTION TOMORROW-img_20140911_114449.jpgRENAULT 12 at PICKLES CANBERRA SALVAGE AUCTION TOMORROW-img_20140911_114459.jpg

So out of curiosity, what was it like for rust?
I'd only be interested in the black interior trim and the rear doors and bonnet if they are rust free. I need some rust free bits for a current resto project.

    Default No obvious rust sighted

It looked quite sound. I didn't notice any bubbling or obvious rust. The panels looked sound and peering inside the crushed wing area it was clean as a whistle. By the looks of it it has been pretty well maintained before the accident. It could still be there, probably worth a ring if you are interested.

You'd be to late now. A srappy would have got it for next to nothing and crushed it by now. You'll be able to buy it back soon, in a few months it'll come back all shinny and new and badged as a Kia.
