Default R12 / virage head gasket size

I can't find reference to the 1397cc virage engine head gasket.

Is it the same as the 1289 head gasket?

Don't see how it can be given that the 1397 has a larger bore.
    cheers! Peter

My initial assumption is that the head gasket for the 1397cc engine is different from the 1289cc r12 engine.

Why was there no reference to the 1397cc engine in 3 gasket parts books at a local parts supplier? All three books had parts for a wide range of renault engines but no reference to the 1397cc engine.

Does the head gasket sit on top of the wet sleve or around it?

The bore of the 1397cc is 79mm increased from 73mm. Is the external dimension of the sleve the same?

I'm sure it is 77mm and not 79. Have you tried to look under Renault 1.4 R9 or 1.4 R11 or 1.4 Fuego or 1.4 R5?

As far as I know they all use the same head gasket and they all are 77mm bore size. The gasket sits on top of the sleeve.

    Sorry my maths was wrong.
    77mm not 79 mm.

We couldn't find a 1397cc or 1.4l reference in his gasket books. Neither r9 or r5.

    I will keep looking.

Include Volvo 340 in your search. You might be lucky there because it is the same engine.
