Default Front windscreen rubber for 4CV

Hi Froggers, I am looking at replacing widscreen on my 1958 4cv and before I do would like to source the windscreen rubber, anyone sourced one locally or do I have to go O/S.
    tks

I'm guessing it would be easier to buy OS. I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if the required profile and shape was available in a ready to fit form off the shelf in Australia. FWIW, the front screen seal I bought for my 8 from Neo Retro in France 15 years ago is still in decent knick, no cracking at the corners or splitting at the join. If they still use the same quality materials now, I'm sure you would be pleased.

    HI Roger,

The wrong profile might seal but I've seen a few that look pretty ordinary when fitted. You'd have to check with suppliers really, but I've not seen a genuine one available for many years in Oz.

Like Simon observed, I'd go O/S, after a visit to W/screen O'Brien and Clarke Rubber of course.

Where are you getting the windscreen?

    Cheers

For what it's worth, when replacing the windscreen in my 4CVG, I simply had Novus cut flat laminate to shape using the old screen as a template & had it inserted using some sort of generic local rubber seal. Seems ok.
    cheers! Peter

Me too. Unfortunately my 4CV screen was totally scratched. I have had to cut it out as the rubber was so hard I couldn't get it out any other way. I have two spare screens that with a quick inspection seem ok. But I also need a new rubber surround.

Talking to Ralph Moore yesterday, he can do it for me, and as was said use the old windscreen as a template, thanks Neo Retro looks like the go, my screen is the original, and could do with a new one, thanks everyone.
