    Default New Renault Clio RS.

I am thinking of buying a 2014 Clio RS to replace my 2005 Golf GTI, does anyone have a comment or advice.

Only that I'd love one myself!
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

Get a previous gen, not a 4 door automatic POS.

Take one for a decent drive over familiar roads before you decide. The Clio is set up very stiff, seemingly more stiff than my old 182, it certainly was a lot more jiggly and nervous over rough surfaces. You'd have to decide if it suited your particular purpose. As for the gearbox, whilst it may have the paddles of an R35 Nissan, I found they controlled a transmission that didn't really do a lot for me, it seemed a bit last generation and slow in some respects. Though I'm likely just old fashioned and out of date preferring to use a gearbox, even if it is actually slower to shift than the current Clio. There is no doubt a dual clutch trans is the way of the future, I'm not so sure it is the one in the Clio though, but given the price of the car I guess it is what you could expect, against an early generation VW DSG it is a world apart improvement.

So, I guess I'm saying it really isn't my type of car. If you are not fussy about a dual clutch trans or the extra size, it may be worth having a look at the RS Megane, which although obviously more expensive I consider is the better drive.

Watch the Chris Harris RS 200 EDC review video on YouTube.. Certainly seems like a capable little machine, albeit different from it's predecessors.

    He covers these well..
