I call it "grandpa spec" due to its lambswool seat covers, dash mounted interior fan (blue blades), drivers Window rain deflector, rear venitions, white wall tyres and the big windscreen mounted external sun visor - all of which will be staying on the car to keep it "grandpa spec"

Nice plug for the biz, too.

True "grandpa spec" usually includes some inappropriate modification/repair to accommodate rampaging old age, like a 21W globe on the dash for a blinker repeater or extra mirrors.

That's 2 Renaults in the fleet now isn't it (do you still have the Clio) My first car was a 71 TL that colour. Wasn't grandpa spec although it did have rear louvers.

I'm surprised it moves with so much 'grand pa spec' plastered all over it... Remove it and you'd gain a few more km's per litre i am sure!

It's one of the early Australian ones too! Likely early '71 build (Oval Plate 90xxx), LHD wipers, and 810-02 1,289cc motor. It looks a lucky survivor of the Electrophoresis rust bug.

If he'd seen the light, he would of got a rear engined Renault, something like the Floride I'm trying to sell at the moment.

Nice! Is that a little boot lid wing on the back, or has the trailing edge just been painted black? If it's a wing, I've never seen one before!

You're in ringwood? I'm in ringwood east - past the guy with the white DS (i think it's a DS) and then up a side street...pretty hard to miss - just look for the abundance of French cars on the street

Let's be honest - I never really liked the rear end of a 12 - kinda looks like an afterthought with that steep slope so I wasn't really into the 12s. ..then I found mine and, well , truthfully , the drive to and from work is enjoyable again (not that the 307 wagon isn't - it's just a bit boring). The 12 is hard to start and sometimes doesn't behave properly and heater fan is so noisy screeching away like fingernails on a black board and the boom noise in cabin at idle is not nice, the headlights may as well by a smoldering leaf and speedo is out by a lot (currently does 100 miles / hr in a 70 zone...). The brake lights illuminating on command is as reliable as my cat going to the loo within the confines of her litter tray (we go through a lot of news paper) but Gee I really like the old 12. . It just - I dunno... makes me smile
