Thanks Simon. That's Kermit all right. The previous owner told me me that he didn't like the gold wheel colour, so he painted them black. I'll get around to repainting them in gold eventually. I wish I could also reproduce the sponsors' decals and bring Kermit back to how he looked when racing.
    All the best,
    Steve

I note the (I think) R5 A/G steering wheel; apart from looking nice, they are a nice diameter & rim width for my taste (used on my R8 & Djet).

    cheers! Peter

The speedo appears to be stuck too! I also thought it seamed a bit leisurely but as you say Peter, maybe he didn't want to be the one that bent it.
    cheers,

I remember this 750. It was Geelong based, driven by David French and Harry Newton and was R16TS powered.
It wasn't as quick as the South Australian 750 of Steve Blee but still did well against much more powerful cars.
Do you have any more pictures from the day Brett?

I did like rallycross. One recollection from Calder is of someone's 4CV rolling spectacularly with doors flapping about open. Blue I think.
It did persuade me of the merits of some roll-over protection.

Great to meet up with Kermit again. Kermit and my dear Buttercup shared digs in Greenock, Barossa Valley up until 2014. Lets hope they are reunited one day!

Thanks John. I think there is only one photo of the two of them together, so I will post soon. In the meantime, Buttercup says hello!
    For the 4CV fans ...-1955-renault-4-cv-3-.jpg
Buttercup was bought in Melbourne around 2012. She was looking very forlorn when we found her outside in the rain. But, she made the journey safely to the Barossa on a car trailer and has been undercover ever since. She was done up in the '80's so at this stage is starting to have that nice aged patina to her but is still in good nick.
Buttercup doesn't undertake any long trips but enjoys little jaunts around the Valley. However, we have recently joined the Barossa Valley Historic Vehicle Club so are looking forward to getting out and about a bit more. At the moment she is being prepared for the club's 40th anniversary from Tanunda to Tarlee, which is being held in a few weeks.

    Cheers

G'day Graham! Earlier on in this thread is an explanation of what went wrong on the way home from Greenock. The motor is now almost completely rebuilt - new pistons, sleeves and bearings from France; a new head from California; a new distributor from Italy; a new clutch plate from Greece and a new clutch release bearing from Michigan. All NOS. And I have also a NOS starter motor which I haven't needed to use (yet).
    Cheers,
    Steve

Very nice Cathy! Mostly, "jaunts" are about right for a nice 4CV except for the small group of serious folk who drive them to Musters. We've had ours most of the time since 1966 and, as an 18-year old student, I did drive it to Katoomba and back, from Adelaide. Nowadays, I wouldn't think of it, but the R8 is good for trans-continental drives.

Tanunda to Tarlee is a nice little drive. The cars cruise comfortably at 45-50 mph IMHO. They go faster, but it isn't cruising for an unmodified car.

We'll have to encourage you to think about the 2019 Muster.... By Perth standards, Inverell isn't too far from Adelaide!

    Cheers
