what a great story, and if Pope Francis is half the man he seems to be, he probably will use it.
has anyone got an old Kingswood they could give to the Mad Monk?

Here's one a predecessor used some years back. The brand is far preferable.

It's possible, the last Renault 4 was in 1994.

That particular Renault 4 is probably "worth" a small fortune. Only driven by two single men to church on Sunday!

    Potential new member?

I doubt it. Anyone who has a flash Renault gets hijacked on here by the "Join the OzRenaultSport" mob and we never hear from them ever again.

    A shame really

No, anyone can quickly get used to the R4 gearshift.
It is the most direct and connected gearshift around.
It's such a delight that I have owned the trio of Renaults that have them.

The replacement mechanism for the R5 with a floor change is like stirring a chopstick in a jar of marbles.

Mind you, I think that the Vatican City only has an area of less than half a square kilometre. The Pope is unlikely to add much to the odometer.
