    Impressive!

Shame they didn't post a pic of the engine and running gear.

    Is there a price listed?

There are vids of the car on Youtube, note the steering wheel freeplay on one of the cars. Also, whilst the body looks neat, the wheels just aren't right, not to mention the sounds.....

    G'day,
you'd think for that price, they would at least put a French engine in it.

I can't get over the fact that the back wheels are straight up. No neg camber, its just wrong.

Just remember this is a kit car, and is required to pass current ADR statutes. To compliance would be a nightmare, they do not want kit-cars on the road in Australia.

They are a VW floorpan with type 2 trailing arm suspension, hence no camber change on rear wheels. Some run with air cooled motors and some have Golf 1600-1800 motors.

The only real way to get a A110 in Australia is to buy a genuine classic.

How about getting a body and attaching it to a floride.

    Hi John,
Funny we were talking about this, this afternoon. If you had Floride chassis plates on it and called it a Floride, it would probably go over the pits for inspection, easy. But if somebody cleaver in the dept knew what the cars were, you would be in the "pooh!!". I have 3 suppliers of A110 genuine type body, available to me. One good one in Mexico at about $5K plus shipping.

I thought you are allowed to do that, I've never looked into it but I've heard you can get a Datsun 240 and change it into a Ferrari 250 GTO, so why not a Floride into a convertable Alpine, I'd have one of those.

If one had the skills and a rusty Floride and Dauphine a Dauphine coupe convertable might be a little easier as the floor pans are alike only problem is value for effort, if one was to try and succeed it would make more sence to do a Alpine convertable, if a VW kit Alpine is worth 25K what would a Floride chopped Alpine convertable be worth, a fair bit more if done properly and as a LHD for the euro market.

After some thought lets not chop up Florides but a Caravelle there not as nice.

If Caravelles aren't as nice how come half the Florides have been converted to Caravelles?

Now that's 5k for the shell, windscreen about $700US (?) rear screen ? (I paid $450), and most of the other bits (Choke yeah right) are from the generics, Floride, Caravelle, etc. And you still don't have instruments etc etc and most of all it's not an Alpine, and you will have spent almost the same as a genuine one. And no I am not trying to sell my one, already sold.

Because they chopped up the Caravelle to save the Floride.

    John you win.

I do prefer a Floride but original. I do have one but it is a heap of rust I even have a Dauphine Gordini motor for it but only a three speed box. Unfortunately I think it will still be even more rust in 10 years time too. Some body tried to fit R10 stuff and stuffed it in the process by not understanding how to make the cooling work.
