    Default I'm getting old

    Its true, i'm getting old.

When I look in the mirror, i see far more grey hairs than last years meagre crop.

I have started befriending, feeding and protecting (from the killer dog) the rat in my shed.

And today, I made enquiries to add more mufflers to my fuego to shut the bloody thing up a bit.

Maybe next year I'll find myself driving an auto....Hmm, maybe not.

The exhaust guy reckons the problem is the 2.25 inch tube size, but he's willing to take my money and give it a go at bringing the noise level down a bit.
I'm getting another straight through-glass pack with expansion chamber fitted where the mid muffler would normaly sit. Thats about all I can fit without making a speed hump scraper or doing major exhaust work $$$.
At the moment its just a hotdog and a straight through rear muffler.
Too much noise and too much power.
I'm guessing the KW's and the DB should be about the same after the muffler is added.

You think you've got problems.....someone recently commented on the frayed white singlet I was wearing...it wasn't, it was my chest hair sprouting up out of my collar..
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

Maybe you just need to be reset Jo?

See if you can borrow a standard hub cap model, fleet company white, automatic Camry for a couple of weeks . Then hop back into the Fuego, go for a blast, and the hoon from within will be re-released making you feel young and alive. Very invigorating
    cheers,

I would rather hear your saxophone playing, Jo, than the Fug exhaust!

Next thing you'll wonder if maybe you should have an automatic.
    Then you'll want cruise control.
Then you think those door mounted weathershields look nice and practical.
In the end you'll get a white LPG auto falcon wagon, like mine.

Then you'll start wondering if maybe a nice turbo manual sports car would be good - or even wonder if you could still drive it at your age?

The decent straight-through should make a big difference - but they also say that a turbo quietens the exhaust in a big way?

    G'day,
    here you go...

a nice simple engine, with more technology than you can poke a stick at, looks a bit old fashioned, has a little street cred...

HE wasn't very nice.... Only took $140 off me, but he did it while I waited, and didn't criticise my car.
    Cortis mufflers at monavale...Highly recomended.

The muffler is now fitted, and it does what I wanted it to do.
At WOT high revs, the beast is still noisy, like a want it to be, but at idle and at normal revs and load it is quite a bit quieter.
Now I can hear the engine (not just the exhaust), which is not the nicest sound in the world. The moving parts in an old douvrin are quite noisy, and more noisy on one with an extra rattle in the lower end.
