    Icon5 842 engine

Hi guys & gals, can someone tell me what vehicle the 842 engine comes from?
It has different crank journal sizes to the 847 one.

The 842-xx motor is from the Renault 12. An Australia only version originally with a 71.9mm bore, the 73mm liners of the 1289cc motor slot straight in. Otherwise the 842-01 motor is identical in specs to the 810-02 motor, and the 842-05 is identical to the 810-05 motor.

The 847-xx motor is the 1.4 motor with the larger bearing journals. And if you get picky, the 810-05/06 motor fitted to the 12XL also had the larger bearing jounals.

Are you thinking of putting a G head on the block?

Man what a wealth of knowledge to be learned. just for the asking. Thanks one & all. I already have the gordini head on the 847 Frans. Got my Winton Raceway long track time down to 1:51:785 on Melbourne Cup day, 6 secs down from last time. With some camber compensation work, I think I can do better next w/end, would love to crack the 40s.
