WOW! I don't know anything about this car but I think I need it! Looks sensational!! Love to see more of it; any more photos of it that you care to share?
    cheers,

    John

what a splendid Dauph! My guess would be that he has cut out the Dauphine cross member & inserted an R10 one & then put in R8G springs & anti roll bar & a-ve camber eccentric mount bolt kit.

    cheers! Peter

Thanks Brett, what an awesome Dauphine! I have a vague recollection of a top notch Dauphine from Nairne that sold and went to a buyer in Japan??? Could be this one perhaps?
    cheers,

    John

These are some details from the ad in 2010

    Renault Dauphine Gordini 1961

Found in a barn 5 years ago, this car has been transformed from a dusty, sad little car to a proud racer.
Stripped naked, the shell was seam-welded and re-sprayed in PPG 2 pak original dauphine racing blue. A strong, 1600 motor (approx 100 horsepower) with independent coil-sprung suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes in a lightweight body (under 700kg) makes for a VERY quick and fun little car.
Re-chromed and shined up, the Gordini has proven to be an attention grabber at public events.
    Specs:
R 16 TS motor and 42mm webber carburettors
    Toyo Motorsport tyres
    Independent coil-sprung suspension
    4 wheel disc brakes

    Rebuilt R10 brake callipers
    R10 balljoint front suspension
    R10 transaxle & stays
R10 Steering rack with meca parts threaded tie-rods
    New Davis-Craig Electric water pump
    GellCell battery
Cobra race seats, freshly trimmed to match the newly upholstered rear seats
    In-date FIA racing harness
    New laminated windscreen (unfitted)
    New high-performance brake pads (unfitted)
New and custom made parts throughout
Available for registration in SA (expired March 2010)
The original gearbox, engine and many other spares will come with the car for conversion back to its original state should that be desired.
The car was built with the intention of hill-climbs and sprints, which it has competed in very successfully. Fine tuning and some tinkering would no doubt improve the car’s performance.

Gawd I wish I hadn't seen this...now I want one as my next project..
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

I can only see that as a good thing if it turns out anything like your current project

Japan must have a voracious appetite for well endowed FRB Dauphines from Australia. As that is what happened to the Phil Sethna owned Dauphine in the mid 1990's, virtually a carbon copy of this car. However the Sethna car apparently had a sticky ending in Japan, being rolled into a ball by its new owner.
