Default Fact or myth? Australian Renault 760 'light delivery' vehicle.

Inspired by a thread on the UK RCCCC forum, apparently there was only a single Type R2070, Renault 760, van built in RHD. Following being shown at the London Motor Show in 1950, it was pressed into service, then written off soon after. http://renaultccc.proboards.com/inde...ay&thread=2021

However, in a brochure produced by Ira L & AC Berk illustrating the various range of models available at the opening of their new Brisbane, Queensland, showroom and workshop facility, there is a pic of a 760 van as being available. It is an artist render only, and not an actual photo, so it would be interesting if it was produced for CKD export, as I have never seen an actual R2070/R2071 in Australia. Given there were a handful of Renaults registered as commercial vehicles through the 1949/50/51 period, were they actually available in Australia?

An enthusiastic Renault family I know, their Grandfather had one for use as a Refrigeration Mechanics vehicle in Brisbane in the 50's.

Leading to the obvious Alan! I wonder what happened to it?

I certainly never saw one in the Adelaide of the 1960s.

Interesting configuration ...... I can remember Volvo Australia doing much the same thing with their station wagon, they sold it minus the reat seat and classed it a commercial vehicle which attracted less sales tax, you could buy the rear seat seperately, it was a popular buy at the time and the only external difference was the tare and weight painted on the side.

I searched high an low for this as I thought it was on A/F, but no found it in my emails of a few weeks ago. Not sure why it wasn't put on this thread.

"I have found an older style 4cv body with traficarors. The numbers are as follows. First tag from the left R2070 with 10464 underneath. Next tag has just 78 stamped on it & the diamond has 1393043 with 860 stamped underneath. Can anyone tell me what year this may be from as it only has a couple of rust holes in the roof & the rest of the shell looks to be in good nick. It could be redeemable if anyone is keen enough."

Quite a common arrangement in Europe actually.

From what I've got, it sounds 1949, it'd be interesting to see it.

Not sure where the car is as along with a number of others I just received that info by forwarded email. Hence my comment "not sure why it didn't get posted here" as a number of the others are on A/F from time to time. By location of original email I think in NSW some where.
