Default R8 For Sale Complete car - in bits

Hey Guys we have come to a major desicion. We have decided to sell the R8 as we just dont have the time or the money to continue the project. My medical bils are getting way to much..

We will sell as a complete car or parts. I dont need to tell you guys what parts i have, as i have everything pretty much.

PLEASE NOTE: Car is complete as in we have all the bits for it. It is not assembled. It is fully stripped back to a bare shell ready for Acid Dipping/Media Blasting.

The engine is a 1400cc, mild cam.

    Best offer....

I agree. Just mothball the project for a few years and see how things pan out.
R8's are getting thin on the ground. You may regret selling it if you ever want another one.

I took 10.5yrs to finish my restoration including living overseas for 4yrs.
I know someone who bought a sprite when his first child was born to restore and drive around. Aiming to finish it by his son's 18th birthday. He finished it when his eldest son got married at 25!

The other thing is not too many people are going to want a project car with the sills cut out of it, so it may be hard to sell for any sort of worthwhile money.

Keep it even if it is till you retire. I have a number of cars bought when I was younger specifically as a retirement projects. R8's won't be around by then.

I agree with all above, shelve it for a few years, not to many because its hard to get motivated back into it.
Took me 10 years to do my Gordini, it probably sat for 4 years without moving at all.

Im sorry guys, but im selling all my cars but my daily driver.I also have a 1985 VL Commodore that im selling too. I do have alot of medical bills to pay, and more to come. We just dont have the time or money to continue. Id rather help out others, that are fixing up cars that do hav the time. If anyone wants the shell pls let me know, otherwise it will go to scrap and i dont really wanna do that. But if someone has the time and patience to fix the chassis/body then it will be a great project. All it will need, is to fix the small amount of rust, sandblasted and ready for painting. I do know of a place in town that will possibly remake the sills.

I know that you can get reproduced sills for a floride/caravelle but not sure if they suit a R8 or if you can get R8 ones but the R8 guys might know.

63- We have tried eveywhere to find sills for an 8 and got no where. We tried France and they dont make them any more... Theres a place in town that build planes that said they can do it. They were going to play around with the section i gave them to see what they can do. I havent heard back from them yet. But id rather someone else do it. If i can get some remade sills for it it will be a extra cost.

Also have a rotisserie to suit an R8 (could be modified easily for any other small car). Home made, works great. See parts forum.

Very sad to see this. I agree with all the others, and having sold stuff to settle what I thought were insumountable things in the short term, it was not long before I regretted the sale, as I could not find another later. This is especially the case if you are not going to get a large pile of cash to help you through. I do sincerely hope you see a way past the immediate difficulties and keep at least the 8.
    Good luck.

Sympathy from my end too. If you really need to clear the decks, bad luck that's for sure.

Let's hope someone can rescue the shell at the very least. Other stuff is easy.

    Hi there.

I really hope you can offload the whole project if you can see no way of parking it in a large corner. They are more compact assembled than in bits.

However, due to a slight mishap, I need at the least one R8 door. So, if you really have to split the project, I'm interested in doors.

And a second however: I really hope it all stays together, so don't take this as a reason to split things up.

    Best wishes

I had been trying that site for months and it has always been down, so I gave up. Seems I gave up to soon.

    Hey John,
Yes we have had alot of interest. All i have left is the engine, rear end and gearbox, wheels and seats. I believe someone in Sydney wants the body, which im glad.

    Hi Jodie

Any chance the wheels might be wider than the original standard 4"

I am happy to see that many of the parts are gone or going to a beter place. Especialy so that the body will be used again. Thanks everyone for your interest.

We are still looking for a home for the engine (1400 Virage), and posibly the gearbox, front and rear glass, and lots of bits and pieces.

    Thanks, PK
