    Default R8 Outer Sill

    Easy question, are the outer sills on an R8 structual? They dont appear to be, my cancer ridden ones certainly arnt at the moment.

    Yes, the outer sills are structural to the car, so they shouldn't be patched with stickytape and bog. The sills, in conjunction with the sides, and upper portions of the body give support and twist resistance to the main floorpan of the car.

    And we'd agree that an R8 needs all the twist resistance it can get.....

    Default R8 Outer Sill

    Not sure what happened to the white R8 that was advertised recently, but it came with a cut up R10 body. perhaps the new owner may be interested in parting with the sill panels ?

    Thanks for the replies. Reason I ask is that I am seriously contemplating making moulds of the sills to fabricate fibreglass ones. Just needed to know how strong they needed to be.

    J man, dont want to go down the path of second hand.. it is often more trouble than it's worth.

    I did find some metal ones on the internet six months back made by a company in France. Problem is, I did not save the site and no matter how hard I look I cant find it again. I have a feeling it was a company that Simon mentioned to either us or Waynerenault,I have tried Meca, Melun, etc.

    Any ideas?
