    Default Peugeot 306, engine stopped?

The car stopped and there is no spark.
I waited a few hours and it started up.
    Fuses were checked ,OK.

At a earlier date it did the same thing and there was no fuel pump noise.
Being in the bush i ran a wire to the pump thinking it was the pump not getting power, it didn't go and there may not have been spark, memory hazy with it being a while back.

i wonder if the ECU could be faulty?

The temp light is on although the needle indicates it only warm.
Are there any sensors that will stop the engine?

    Low coolant level?

    Yes coolant level is OK.

    What else stops the motor?

The gauge reads low and the coolant is not hot but the light is on.

    how is this so?

There are two coolant temp sensors near the thermostat housing, one for the gauge and one for the ECU. I think the light is from the ECU.

Check the ECU temp sensor and wiring. Data attached.

    Cheers

Hi-Is there a resistor near the fuel pump on the 306-like on the 405-If so that could be the problem.I have never had to look under the rear of a 306 though I have more than one here & have done some work on a few of my mates cars.
Have had 2 or three fail on different cars we have had the cars having totaled over 800,00 k's.
All you have to do is bypass it[If there is one]
